Had this one on tap yesterday at the Fitchburg location. Really nice Brown actually. Appearance comes off predictable but taste is stellar. Some soft alcohol noticeable upfront, otherwise smooth through till the finish. Sweet, yet not cloying. Rich and flavourful but not too much. I used to love the Fat Squirell from NG, but then it got too sweet for me. Tis is a perfect balance.

Pours an amber brown color with a medium off-white head that leaves lots of sticky lacing. Aroma is slightly hoppy with sweet malts. Taste is all right.......some sweet malts with maybe a hint of ginger or pumpkin. Drinkable but nothing exciting.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2007 On tap at the Fitchburg location. Pours a dark brown with no head. Sliight malt and hop aroma. Flavor tatses more like a amber than a brown. Nicely bold in flavor, however, with a pleasant hop resin aftertaste. Overall, not bad but doesn’t live up to the cool name.

Medium brown ale with a thin, weak head. Taste is of pumpernickel bread with a little sweetness. 7.5 % alcohol stated by the brewery seems a little overstated. Not my style but easy drinking and enjoyable
