Growler courtesy of BDR! Didn’t get this open for about a month, so fair notice. Dark copper color with a medium head. Danky hop aroma, light citrus notes. Maybe caramel after warming. Moderate to strong bitterness with some dank hop flavor. A bit vegetal. Caramel and toasty/biscuity taste. Almost full bodied. Pretty tasty.

Reviewed from notes. On tap in Madison - August 2009.
Pours a golden-orange color with a white head and a bit of lacing. The nose brings some pine, floral hops, and some citrus rind. A light malt backing. The taste is a bit more plain and while there is a bit of pine needle flavoring, the hops aren’t nearly what they were in the nose. The hops come roaring back in the feel, with a really pleasant spruce and rind bitterness. Drinks well in the end and is a pretty solid brew.

10th October 2008. GABF. Hazy brown beer. One of those lovely IPAs that manages to be hoppy but isn’t bitter and is fact a quite sweet. Dry spicy finish.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 noncaloric (684) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 26, 2009
Hazy orange-red with an inch of beige head, leaves abundant lasting lace. Strongly aromatic, piney, floral aroma, balanced in the nose by a cream-soda caramel malt sweetness. Flavor is led first by sweet malts, nearly balanced by hops bitterness. The only real nod to hops aromatics in the flavor is a bit of orange character. Warm and zesty on the palate. A nice malt heavy double.

On tap at Great Dane – Hilldale. Poured almost clear medium (or slightly deeper) orange with a sticky cap of off-white head. The aroma was quite delightful.. juicy pine, pineapple, and pear notes leapt out of the glass with grapefruit meat and caramel sweetness backing ‘em up.. nicely balanced and decidedly succulent! The flavor had sticky, sweeter pear and pineapple notes at the core with heavy bitterness surrounding (pine, pineapple, and perfume).. finished with bracing juicy bitterness and warm alcohol.. tasty, but a bit rough at times. Heavier-bodied and almost syrupy on the palate with high bitterness.. spicy, warm finish.. again, a bit rough at times.
