3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sampled from a growler shared by malachi following DL06: Pours a clear copper bronze with a nicely-lacing off-white head. Fresh, grainy caramel malty aroma has authentic noble hoppy balance. Body starts with a sweet toasted maltiness well balanced with good noble hoppiness. Very authentic and enjoyable.

Tap at the downtown location tonight. The beer pours to a transluscent chestnut body with a creamy white head. The flavor is toasty/roasty, floral/herbal/Saaz-ish hops. The aroma is floral/herbal/grassy. Honeysuckle. The palate is quite carbonated with a malty mouthfeel.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Growler from hezron shared at Dark Lord tasting
There was a slightly off wheat scent intermingled with hints of orange peels and fruity hops from this amber bodied bock. The flavor was good but not outstanding - I was able to detect caramel, toffee, hazelnut and pine at various stages. Enjoyable but coming from the Dane I was expecting a little more.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: APR 30, 2006 Rerate from a growler thanks to malachi. Nice aroma with lots of grassy hops and a strong caramel aroma. Golden amber-orange in color with a thin head. Great crisp caramel flavor that isn’t to sweet and a spicey, grassy finish. Really good this time, I was impressed.
Original rating 6/19/05 (7,3,5,2,9:2.6) Caramel/toffee aroma and noticable green olives, weird. Copper with amber around the edges and a thin white head. Sweet caramel and toffee flavor with some tart vinigar in the finish. Sweet and cloying in the back of the mouth.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Body is a light copper color with a white head. The aroma is sweet molasses and vanilla. The taste is strong caramel and a little toffee. There is a burn that seems like alcohol. This is sharp on the tongue. The mouthfeel is sticky.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured a reddish-tan with below-average head retention. Plums, prunes, and pine in the nose. Light fruity taste that was rather sweet. Hops noted in taste, but were rather secondary. Mildly carbonated with an almost tingly mouthfeel. This was a decent beer that I will likely skew toward "good" because I enjoy the style.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Deep copper colored with no head. Nice aroma of sweet malt. Big creamy malt taste, but lacks the toffee/treacle taste that makes this beer so good. Cloying and really filling. Probably a yeast problem because seems poorly attenuated.
