Draft. Cherry, apple, toffee malt, and astringent alcohol aroma. Amber with small head. Moderately sweet apple-berry toffee malt and moderately bitter/astringent hay and alcohol flavor. Nice body. Solid.

Poured a reddish-tan with below-average head retention. Plums, prunes, and pine in the nose. Light fruity taste that was rather sweet. Hops noted in taste, but were rather secondary. Mildly carbonated with an almost tingly mouthfeel. This was a decent beer that I will likely skew toward "good" because I enjoy the style.

Sampled from a growler shared by malachi following DL06: Pours a clear copper bronze with a nicely-lacing off-white head. Fresh, grainy caramel malty aroma has authentic noble hoppy balance. Body starts with a sweet toasted maltiness well balanced with good noble hoppiness. Very authentic and enjoyable.

Growler: Courtesy of malachi at the Hampton Inn Tasting (Saturday). Grassy aroma with hints of fruit, nuts, and caramel. Pours a bright transparent orange with a small off-white head. Lightly fruity with some hints of toffee and light brown sugar. Finishes with a nutty sweetness and a touch of bitterness.

Served on draught at the Wisconsin Micro-brewers Beerfest in Chilton, Wisconsin. Pours a clear dark golden colored brew with an average off-white head that has a slow dissolve to a fine film and white ring. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, some light raisin, honey with a mild grassy hop character. Taste is somewhere between medium to full bodied, light carbonation with flavors of semi-sweet caramel malt, honey, a touch of herbal spice and some raisin. Finish is semi-sweet, slightly bitter with a grassy and caramel aftertaste. Best served not so cold.

Amber color with a mderate ecru head. Sweet hops and malt aromas with a light clean lager nose. Pale malt sweetness throughout. Floral hops jump in the mix and help distact. A touch too sweet for my palate.

Body is a light copper color with a white head. The aroma is sweet molasses and vanilla. The taste is strong caramel and a little toffee. There is a burn that seems like alcohol. This is sharp on the tongue. The mouthfeel is sticky.

Several draught pints and glasses at the Hilldale location, 2014-16, most recently in early June of this year. Pours a darker amber-gold than I might expect, almost clear, with a bit of lasting head....caramel-malty nose, a touch of darker, smokier stuff, light herbal qualities...body is lightly syrupy, moderately sweet - honey and a bit of raisin or dates perhaps - not at all hoppy/bitter, faintly smoky/burnt/caramelized throughout, and a bit dryer and more burnt at the finish...low carbonation, a bit sticky. Fairly similar to Capital’s Maibock, which I like a little more (and really should re-rate next time I have it); it’s a bit much, a bit sticky in a pint sample, which is the main difference - the Capital is just more drinkable and less heavy to my taste. In any case both are good reasons to look forward to spring.

DL06: Poured a clear golden amber color with a thin off-white head. Sweet fruity malt aroma with notes of apples and golden raisins. The flavor is fruity and estery. Light bitter finish.
