A pretty good and caramel malted Oktoberfest bier. Lots of roastiness on the nose and palate. Pretty drinkable, and a good example of the style.

On tap at Great Dane – Wausau. Poured clear copper with a sticky off-white head. The aroma picked up toasted nutty and caramel notes with fresh fruity and leafy accents.. crisp and well-presented. The flavor found nicely-toasted caramel and chewy bread at the core.. fruity hops and a touch of tartness around.. odd, slightly funky fruit on the finish. Light-medium bodied with higher carbonation on the palate.. OK feel and flow. This started out much better than it finished.

Brewed to style, and brewed very well to style. Amber color. Big, rich malt flavor with grassy, Germanic hops. Fine. (on tap at brewpub)

On tap at Great Dane Fitchburg. Clear copper with next to no head. Aroma of toffee, Munichesque malts and grains. Taste of toffee, burnt malt and corn. Mild dry and lightly bitter on the finish.

On tap at brewpub, pours a clear amber with thin white head,m aroma is of sweet malt and the taste is much of the same, boring overall, this is a lot sweeter than I was expecting.

On tap, Great Dane, downtown. Pours a clear orangish copper with a small off-white head. Clean munich malt nose with just a light hint of hoppiness. The flavor is pretty good, caramel and munich malt with a moderate bitterness on the finish that makes it pretty crisp. Medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Decent, but not a standout.

On tap at their airport location, pours a dark amber witha a decent white foamy head. Taste is thick andalty, a little corny at the end. I’ll try it again at the brewpub, as I’m always worried that airport glasses are a bit tainted for flavor and aroma.

Tap @ Fitchburg Dane - Pours dark amber with very little head. Nose is sweet malt--it’s nice and rich with lots of slightly sour milk. Taste is big and malty, with a little sour lactose, caramel, and just a bit of whiskey. There’s the faintest hop finish. It’s bubbly and smooth, but just a bit too sweet.

An early release Octoberfest from Great Dane. On draught during Great Taste of Midwest 2009 in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear amber colored brew with a fast dissolving off-white head. Aroma is slightly fruity, a touch of caramel malt and some flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, smooth with more malty flavor than fruit character. Finish is semi-sweet, malty with a slight biscuit texture and aftertaste.
