3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 madvike (1479) - Middleton, USA - SEP 28, 2009
Tap @ Fitchburg Dane - Pours dark amber with very little head. Nose is sweet malt--it’s nice and rich with lots of slightly sour milk. Taste is big and malty, with a little sour lactose, caramel, and just a bit of whiskey. There’s the faintest hop finish. It’s bubbly and smooth, but just a bit too sweet.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 kramer (3459) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 20, 2009
On tap, Great Dane, downtown. Pours a clear orangish copper with a small off-white head. Clean munich malt nose with just a light hint of hoppiness. The flavor is pretty good, caramel and munich malt with a moderate bitterness on the finish that makes it pretty crisp. Medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation. Decent, but not a standout.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 Scubatrip (559) - Annandale, Virginia, USA - OCT 30, 2009
On tap at their airport location, pours a dark amber witha a decent white foamy head. Taste is thick andalty, a little corny at the end. I’ll try it again at the brewpub, as I’m always worried that airport glasses are a bit tainted for flavor and aroma.

An early release Octoberfest from Great Dane. On draught during Great Taste of Midwest 2009 in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear amber colored brew with a fast dissolving off-white head. Aroma is slightly fruity, a touch of caramel malt and some flowery hops. Taste is medium bodied, smooth with more malty flavor than fruit character. Finish is semi-sweet, malty with a slight biscuit texture and aftertaste.

Sampled on draught all over: Poured a clear amber colour with a medium sized white head. Rich in malts, noticeable biscuity malts as well some apple perhaps. Taste is flavourful and aroma compliments with bready and yeast like notes. Nice!
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 troyc (2014) - Oklahoma, USA - NOV 16, 2008
(Tap) Sampled at the downtown location at the end of October. Pours amber in color, with little head. Sweet malt and spice aroma. Surprisingly, I got some nutmeg and earthy notes in the aroma. Taste is more subdued, with typical sweet malt aromas. At times, it seemed a little bit grainy. Average mouthfeel and easy to drink. Not bad, but pretty average in most respects.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Narnad (1147) - Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA - OCT 21, 2008
My sis picked up a growler of this when up in Madison recently. Pours a great red-amber color, medium carbonation with a foamy off while/cream colored head. Aroma is very heavy of Munich malt, slight apple fruitiness and a real heavy nutty aroma. Flavor was very nutty up front then moves into a sweet caramel malt flavor and finishes with a solid alcohol presence. Overall a great example of an Oktoberfest lager.
