From the tap @ Great Dane in Madison. Dark, nutty brown in color. Medium body. Smooth feel and taste. Not that much of a meal as some other dark beers are. Very good beer.

Rated on 7-04-2015 at Great Dane (Downtown) This draft beer has a beige head that mostly diminishes, reddish brown transparent body, no visible carbonation noted, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is caramel malt, lightly bready and hint of toffee. The flavor is caramel malt, some toffee and semi-sweet. This beer has a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation and it is light bodied. Overall, this beer is quaffable but is on the light side for the style.

Draft. Amber pour, super fruity type scotch ale, really yeast dominant, maybe some bubblegummy, doesn’t seem to fit the style.

Sample at the downtown brewpub. Clear dark copper color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, toffee and dark fruit. Medium body with flavors of caramel, earthy malt and slight fruity hops. The finish is sweet with a peaty malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pours a nice dark brown with off-white head. Sweetness on the nose, candied yams. Caramel, toffee, and a bit of bread on the palate. Finishes sweet.

Kind of a by the numbers homebrewish scotch ale. Too sweet. Sorta one dimensional. Dark brown. Medium to large off white creamy frothy head. A little thin.

From a growler filled at the brewpub. Brown pour with an off white head that lingers. Smells of caramel, toffee and slight sour. Taste follows. Very good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at the downtown location. Unfiltered amber-brown. Thick off-white head. Sweet buttery homebrew shab aroma. Hollow medium body, odd peat smoke. True to style, if the style was a bottom of the barrel budget Scottish beer.

Tap at the brewpub. Orange amber pour with a small clingy head. Lots of caramel sweetness. Some bread. Quite tasty - and very drinkable.

Overall I like this brew. Dark coppery color, little in the way of head, not too carbonated. Aroma s weak in general. Some Hons f sweetness and malt, little hops. Flavor is smooth and sweet, some caramelized malt character. Slightly sticky mouthfeel. A little bitterness reminds me of tea. Tasty and a go to when I am in Madison. On tap at the downtown pub.

Imperial pint at the downtown Dane. Dark red-brown color, bubbles, practically no foam on top. The flavor and texture are the best part of Stone of Scone. The flavor is sweet caramel and still not overpowering. The body is medium and refreshing, extraordinarily drinkable and balanced out with just the right amount of carbonation. I really like this beer and it would get even higher marks if it had a more detectable aroma.
