9/05/2009: Great Dane Texas Speedbump IPA... Aroma: Plenty of Amarillo hops in the nose; orange, hints of lemon. Appearance: Copper golder, transparent; really soft and frothy off-white head, solid lacing. Flavor: Nice caramel/toffee maltiness with a hint of nuttiness; moderate level of bitterness that has earthy, citrus, and floral characterisitcs. Palate: Feels mellow, creamy and smooth in the mouth. Overall: This is a great IPA and a great cask offering; I really enjoyed it; probably the best of all the beers I had here...

Draught (CASK) at The Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co. in Madison (Hilldale), Wisconsin. Rating #64 for this beer.

On tap at the brewpub in Madison: Nice coppery hue with a nitro infused creamy white head which of course left excellent lace upon the glassware. the aroma has a nice resiny and grassy hop vapours, some grapefruit and orange esters, pepper and biscuity pale malts. The taste starts twangy and slightly acidic with a fair amount of hop bitterness balanced by the malt. The mouth feel is lively and crisp, good body for the style (likely attributed to the nitro pour methinks). Overall a pleasant surprise, a very quaffable IPA.

Tap at the Wausau location under the Speedway IPA name. Light brown, with a little orange too it and a very nice clingy white head. Nice piney aroma, hoppy with a medium bitterness, very quaffable IPA.

This is the first beer I order whenever I visit The Great Dane. Pours a clear amber with a thin head. Aroma of of piney citrusy hops and caramel. Taste of citrus hops with plenty of malt sweetness to balance it out . This seems to be more of an English style IPA than American style, but you really can’t go wrong with this.

Had as a sampler during lunch; no head (sampler glass); nice hoppy (some citrus) nose; good taste of hops but was expecting a bit more bitterness with the finish. May have done better with a full pint

On cask at Great Dane Hilldale. Clear amber with an a medium beige head. Aroma of Amarillo hop, sweet malt, citrus and biscuity notes. Mild carbonation with taste of Amarillo and citrus hops, biscuit, light fruit and pale malt. Though it was decently balanced and finished up moderately bitter.

Served as a slightly hazy orange amber with a large, dense, creamy head, dissipating to leave a thin, dry lacing. Aroma of citric hops adds to the anticipation of the beer. On the tongue, the hops are well balanced by somewhat sweet malts. Somewhat honeyed, fruity, although significantly bitter in the sense of citrus zest. Medium bodied, good hops burn.

Skyview (5696) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - NOV 2, 2008
On draught at the downtown brewpub location in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear amber brew with a nearly beige head that dissipates to a thin off-white head and some spotty lacing. Aroma of light citrus and pine hops, a touch of golden grain and caramel malts, and a touch of spice. Taste is very light carbonated, some medium body with flavors of citrus hops on top of caramel malt and a touch of Ivory Soap - could have been the dishwasher water, but it was there. Finish is mild bitterness with some citrus aftertaste. Closer to an American Pale Ale style than India but still drinkable.
