Very good stuff, my fave IPA from GD. Rich hop aroma, good orangish color and hops that coat the back of your throat. I agree that it lacks carbonation, in a good way. Could drink a few of these in a sitting for sure

On tap at the Great Dane Brew Pub (Downtown Madison Location). On cask. Poured a medium and cloudy / murky orange color a small sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, light caramel, and some pine. Tastes of caramel, citrus, and lighter pine. Nicely balanced.

I think this is one of GD’s best offerings. May have to do with it being on the hand pump. Thin head with unfiltered orange-amber coloring. Nose is light pine and citrus. Very easy drinking, not too carbonated, which detracts from ipa usually. Finish is smooth with ample hop bitterness.

sliffy (2040) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 27, 2007
On tap @ the brewpub (downtown): Poured a clear copper color with an off white head. Aroma, citrus and earthy hops, with some spices. Flavor, caramel malts up front with a spicy earthy hoppy finish. Nice bitterness in there as well. Good stuff.

Chicago Trip. Sunday 23:01. Sample tray. Very dark amber. Where’s the aroma?! Nicely hopped flavour, a little bit of tangerine. Just no finishing or aromatic hops. This could be really good with some tiny adjustments.

Silphium (3160) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - MAY 24, 2007
On tap at the downtown location. Clear light copper body, medium to thin off-white head. Light nose at such a cold serving temperature, but tangy, piney hops notes developed over time. Citrusy, piney body, thin, with a strange transition to an earthy, somewhat off-putting finish. Almost a stale flavor, cardboardy. Still drinkable, but flawed.

(Tap) Pours an amber color with little head and served warm. Aroma of hops and pine. Taste includes citrus, pine, and light caramel malts. A pretty good IPA, but rather unremarkable at the same time.

Draft at the brewpub. poured a clear orange color. Head was thin, white, and left some nice lace on the glass. Attractive aroma of grapefruity hops, toffee, and malty cereal grain. Crisp and slightly sweet on the tongue with assertive hop bitterness quickly overcoming the sweetness. Medium bodied with grapefruit, malty caramel, and toffee flavors. Very good IPA.

On cask.
Pours a clear headless amber red. Aroma is very fruity, citrus, floral, some pine notes as well. Flavor follows the aroma and backs it up with a good caramel-malt backbone. Palate is a bit flat and watery, as one would expect from a cask-drawn ale. I found this to be much better balanced than the standard CO2-drawn version.

#932, On tap at the brewery while on a trip thanks to the University of Wisconsin. Aparently cask. Clear with no head, nose is flat taste is sweet with lots of rose perfume and hops. Sharp towards the end and as warms even more.
