Courtesy of Skyview. Black color with a small head. Aroma of chocolate and some cherries. Pretty much the same in the flavor, just lighter. Quite boozy.

Sampled at an rsbls tasting. Very dark red brown. This is cherroes then chocolate and then some sour funkiness. Tartness in the after taste and the finish. I wish the cherries were sweeter.

Black barleywine with noticeable cocoa along with the standard caramel, cherries add a slight fruit touch. Boozy.

22oz bottle from mnmike, really not what I thought this beer would be at all, I was expecting your big caramel boozy syrupy barleywine with subtle hints of cherry, what I got was an astrigent mix with fake, artificial cherry flavor which stuck out like a sore thumb...

Picked up a single 22-oz bomber from Riley’s Wines of the World in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours an opaque dark reddish brown colored brew with a decent sized tan head that slowly dissipates to a creamy off-white top and excellent lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate malt, cherries, a hint of caramel and floral hops. Taste is full bodied, some alcohol presence, along with flavors of chocolate malt, caramel , cherries, and some tart berries. Finish is quite sweet as expected in an English-style barleywine, with aftertastes of chocolate malt, floral hops and a continued dried cherry aftertaste.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2013 Bottle from mnmike. Pours black with a boozy-cherry aroma. Flavor is cherry with a stout like after taste. Reminds me more of an imperial stout. Nice beer, definitely.interesting.

UPDATED: MAR 25, 2013 Amazing black pour with lingering beige head. Tart cherry taste over balanced by huge malts. Its like drinking the really bad Belgian cherry red , but with an english barleywine/abt quad body. Quite a mess.

22oz limited bomber picked up at the Downtown location, pours a very dark brown with a red tint, brown head with also a red tint to it, aroma is pretty nice, a good amount of cherry with some chocolate, just a hint of booze on the nose as well, the flavor is way sweeter than I was expecting, the cherries can be tasted through out and there is a little bit of chocolate in the finish as well, the cherries are just a little bit sour and play with the sweetness pretty well, the 12% is pretty well hidden though. The $16 price tag was a little steep but it’s pretty enjoyable.

22 ounce 2012 vintage bottle. Very interesting beer I picked up in Madison WI during the holidays. Strong cherry tart smell and taste. Dark red coloring. Moderate head. Great strength too - not sure what temperature I prefer this at, but I’m leaning towards colder than warmer.

Jolly old scratch says it is a black style barlywine. It is a very dark beer. Smell is malt and alcohol. Taste is initially chocolate and ends with a earthy, alcohol, biting flavor.
