As opposed to its bigger Czech cousin Peck’s Pilsner, our German Pils is a traditional German-style brau. The renowned German Hallertau Mittelfruh hop and pilsner malt produce a lighter-bodied pils that finishes crisp yet soft. So authentic and drinkable, it cries “Bring on the liters!”

Tap at the brewpub in Wausau. Clear pale golden pour with a smaller spotty white head. Nose is very faint. Crisp palate but just mild cream / grain here. Dull.

8/14/11. On tap in the Madison airport. Very clear light golden pour with a small fluffy white head and plenty of lacing. Subtle aroma of graininess with a touch of earthy hop. Biting flavor of pilsner grain and earthy hops. Not bad!

Served on draught at the Wisconsin Micro-brewers Beerfest in Chilton, Wisconsin. Pours a clear straw blonde colored brew with a fast dissolving white head that dissipates to a thin white ring. Aroma of crystal grain malt, some corn grits, with a touch of grassy hops. Taste is light bodied, a little gritty in texture with flavors of a light multi-grain crystal malt, grassy hops and a touch of white pepper. Finish is a little gritty, some grassy hop character aftertaste that quickly disappears to a crisp finish.

Light gold color with a grassy smell and some dark bread. The taste is full with subtle celery and black pepper spice. There is also some bread crust. This package comes together nicely. This is probably the best lager I ever had at a brewpub.

Tap @ Great Dane. Pours a clear very pale yellow body with a wispy white head. A little DMS on the nose with very light hops, a little bit of Saaz maybe. The flavor is pretty clean and crisp with nice sharp finish despite the minimal bitterness. Light bready pils maltiness. Light bodied and easy drinking with moderate fizzy carbonation. Pretty decent, above average for a brewpub German Pils.

Brilliant light straw color with a moderate white head. Noble hops aroma. Sweet hops flavor with a nice malt balance. A bit thin in body. Finish is a bit "stingy" with sharp hops. A decent domestic german pils.

Draft at the downtown brewpub. Sample. Super thin green yellow. Soapy head. I detect some buttery, off flavors. Soft, pleasant body. The off flavors really kill this one for me. Buttery, infected, whatever.

It was a bit too pale, and has a heavy carbonation. I don’t think beer should bubble like a Coke.

Light, fruity, some nice ending bitterness, good color and lacing in the glass, hints of pepper and spice. Slightly better than the Pecks Pils I thought.
