COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As opposed to its bigger Czech cousin Peck’s Pilsner, our German Pils is a traditional German-style brau. The renowned German Hallertau Mittelfruh hop and pilsner malt produce a lighter-bodied pils that finishes crisp yet soft. So authentic and drinkable, it cries “Bring on the liters!”

Medium copper/amber color. Clear. White creamy head. Germal bitter hops with a fresh grass taste and some sweet doughy malt. Light perfume in aroma. Nice pilsener.

Pale yellow thin foamy white. Nice subtle pilsener, malts shine through, dry very drinkable. Light, smooth mouth feel.

I believe this is the beer they referred to as the German pils. Faint Aroma of hay and corn. Pretty disappointing standard lager here. Inoffensive but uninteresting, to say the least.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2006 Blond color with a minimal white head. Noble hops/sweet aroma. Balanced hop/malt flavor. I thought this would be more bold when I bought it.

This pours a clear, dark yellow color with a slight white head. The aroma is slightly malty. The flavor is mild and good for a pils. Lots of grain and hints of citrus.

No real defination to this beer, it looks almost like water. There was at least some taste, but not an abundence of it. Not a top beer.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Very pale straw gold color with excellent clarity, modest white head, minimal lace. Nice variety of hops sensations, grassy on the aroma, floral in the mouth, citric on the aftertaste. Flavor also includes a pleasant spicy sensation and some sweet cereal body, but is slightly stale on the malts, with a slightly off stale-to-metallic tang. Thin bodied, but with a pleasantly peppery mouthfeel.

Light malt aroma, some corn-like notes and a touch of grassiness. Clear golder-yellow and a bright white head. Nice, light flavor: crisp malt that has a sourness to it that is very nice and bready with a hint of grassiness in the finish. Light body, weird almost creamy mouthfeel with a dry-ish finish.

On tap.
Clear pale gold, very little head and no lacing. Dry, crisp aroma with some fruity/floral hop notes. Flavor is a clean, crisp, bitter-hop affair with a bit of grassy-sour and fruity tones.Medium-light body with surprisingly lively, tingly palate considering how little head it produced. A good, clean no-frills pilsner that achieves its objective.

Depending on my mood, I often prefer this one over the Peck’s, since it does more with less, as in hopiness. The malt is a little too large and the carbonation too little for a German pils. It is really more of a helles. But all the same I think it is an excellent beer, that is often overlooked because of the huge selection at the Dane.
