As opposed to its bigger Czech cousin Peck’s Pilsner, our German Pils is a traditional German-style brau. The renowned German Hallertau Mittelfruh hop and pilsner malt produce a lighter-bodied pils that finishes crisp yet soft. So authentic and drinkable, it cries “Bring on the liters!”

20100606 tap at downtown location. Perfectly refreshing, not flawed with the usual bp pils pitfalls, but not at all hoppy or interesting enough to get me excited about it. That said, the world would be a better place if every neighborhood had a solid bp pils like this one.

6/21/2008. Draught at the brewpub. Clear straw with a one finger white head, faded to a thick film before long. Aroma has hints of floral hops, minimal sulfur, some cracker malts. Stronger malt profile in the flavor with plenty of balance from the light hops. Bitterness peaked at a 3, finish is dry. Moderate to high carbonation with a light body. Very sessionable.

On tap at the Wausau MN Great Dane as "George Ruder’s" german pils. A clear yellow color with white head. Faint grassy aroma with mild hops and more of the same in the body, but with a bready taste and a bit of caramel malt in the finish.

Tap @ Great Dane. Pours a clear very pale yellow body with a wispy white head. A little DMS on the nose with very light hops, a little bit of Saaz maybe. The flavor is pretty clean and crisp with nice sharp finish despite the minimal bitterness. Light bready pils maltiness. Light bodied and easy drinking with moderate fizzy carbonation. Pretty decent, above average for a brewpub German Pils.

Light malt aroma, some corn-like notes and a touch of grassiness. Clear golder-yellow and a bright white head. Nice, light flavor: crisp malt that has a sourness to it that is very nice and bready with a hint of grassiness in the finish. Light body, weird almost creamy mouthfeel with a dry-ish finish.

Medium copper/amber color. Clear. White creamy head. Germal bitter hops with a fresh grass taste and some sweet doughy malt. Light perfume in aroma. Nice pilsener.

On tap.
Clear pale gold, very little head and no lacing. Dry, crisp aroma with some fruity/floral hop notes. Flavor is a clean, crisp, bitter-hop affair with a bit of grassy-sour and fruity tones.Medium-light body with surprisingly lively, tingly palate considering how little head it produced. A good, clean no-frills pilsner that achieves its objective.

On tap at downtown location - This wasn’t too bad--a lot better than I expected. Pours clear straw yellow with barely a head. Smells fruity, with bread and honey notes. Taste is mild malt, bread, yeast. It’s over-carbonated, but once it warmed a bit it calmed down. I wouldn’t mind drinking this on a hot day.

Clear golden straw color with an okay head. Clean yeasty aroma with a hint of hops. Nice bitterness, not much malt or hop flavor, yeast flavor is nice. Could use more body. A realy nice German Pils.
