COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As opposed to its bigger Czech cousin Peck’s Pilsner, our German Pils is a traditional German-style brau. The renowned German Hallertau Mittelfruh hop and pilsner malt produce a lighter-bodied pils that finishes crisp yet soft. So authentic and drinkable, it cries “Bring on the liters!”

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2006 Blond color with a minimal white head. Noble hops/sweet aroma. Balanced hop/malt flavor. I thought this would be more bold when I bought it.

Pours a vibrant, golden colour with a small off white head. Well balanced, not overly malted, pours with retention. Nice lacing, Aroma is fruity on the nose, yet taste is soft of grain and dough. Finishes slightly bitter.

on tap at great dane, sampled next to their czech pils (Pecks) and this didn’t come close, a nice hallertau hop character but it was more underplayed than the saaz in Pecks, with a body that isn’t near as full. i still enjoyed this but i would have to choose Pecks over this easy.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Very pale straw gold color with excellent clarity, modest white head, minimal lace. Nice variety of hops sensations, grassy on the aroma, floral in the mouth, citric on the aftertaste. Flavor also includes a pleasant spicy sensation and some sweet cereal body, but is slightly stale on the malts, with a slightly off stale-to-metallic tang. Thin bodied, but with a pleasantly peppery mouthfeel.

On tap at the Wausau GD. Served a mid gold with a nice frothy head that faded slowly to a nice lacing. Aroma was of malt and hops. Taste was similar with Pilsner-like hop predominance but mild, not bitter, in nature. The mouth was decent. Overall, a decent pilsner.

Light, fruity, some nice ending bitterness, good color and lacing in the glass, hints of pepper and spice. Slightly better than the Pecks Pils I thought.

Draft at the brewpub. Clear golden color with a thin white head and minimal lacing. Light fruity plum aroma. Tasted of noble hops, and light cereal grain. Dry and crisp with subdued hop bitterness.

A snappy pils with more hoppy bitterness than malty sweetness. A bit of caramel and, hmmmm, maybe lemon on the aroma. Enjoyed on tap with the kick-butt meatloaf at the original Great Dane.

8/14/11. On tap in the Madison airport. Very clear light golden pour with a small fluffy white head and plenty of lacing. Subtle aroma of graininess with a touch of earthy hop. Biting flavor of pilsner grain and earthy hops. Not bad!

On tap at the downtown brewpub. Neutral aroma, light coloured but noticeably lacey. A decent drinker, with a mild bitterness as denoted by 13 IBU. Serviceable sessionable, at 5.4% abv.
