UPDATED: SEP 30, 2007 From tap. Rerate. Black with a bubbly tan head that dissapates to a film. Somewhat chocolatey smell but dominated by coffee. Flavor is smokey with lots of coffee tones and some cigar and charcoal. VERY easy to drink and enjoyable. My favorite at the Great Deep Brewing Co.

On tap at the brewpub. The bartender said it was on nitro, but I’m not sure I believe it. Anyway, Black with a pretty thin brown head. Nice coffee and chocolate aromas, roasty. Typical silky body associated with the style. Plenty of coffee flavor, nice semisweet chocolate bite.

UPDATED: APR 10, 2009 Draft at the brewpub. Deep brown with a off white to tan head. Malt and oat to the nose. Flavors similar, also a bit of a sour component to the brew. Pretty good for the island. Re sampled on 4/10/09. 20 oz pour from the tap. Poured a lot darker. Nose was deep roasted malt. The beer entered strong with brewed coffee. Flavors built with more of a nicely roasted malt. Mouth was full with a little bitterness to it. This was much improved from the previous time. My rating if for the latest tasting.

UPDATED: JUN 15, 2006 [Bottled from tap, many thanks to Zappa Was Right!] Black. Intense aroma of roasty coffee and dark chocolate. Fairly sweet with medium-full body. Densely malty with creamy mouthfeel and notes of tar and licorice. Lingering salty bitterness. A compact, flavourful very American style stout that is really good!

Poured black with an almost nonexistent head but the beer was very cold. Nice roasty aroma. Light chocolate. Nice body. Flavor is coffee, roasted malts. A very nice stout.
