DrunkAsASkunk (847), Lynnwood, Washington, USA Aug 18, 2005 This beer pours a cloudy orange color with a thin white creamy head with mild creamy lacing. The aroma is almost pure sweet malt and barley with heavy notes of brown sugar. A hint of citrus and grass in the nose as well. The flavor is medium to full bodied and completely confusing on the palate. To stick with the amber fashion this was strangely nutty with sticky honey in the finish. Also noted are wood, citrus, hay, grass, sweet malts and perhaps brown sugar...but man is there a lot of nut quality here. The aroma is actually quite nice. Its not as strong as I’d like but whats there is sweet and refined..the flavor however confuses me greatly. Medium carbonation levels, not something I could drink a lot of. Finish is dry and relatively murky...uninteresting. Aftertaste gets worse as it warms so drink it quickly.
j12601 (1153), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Aug 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours a very lightly hazed caramel brown with a medium large white head. Light citrus hop, caramel malt, and a touch of grain. Little thin, a bit sweet – sort of candy like at first, moving to a more malty back. Finishes with a nice balancing bitterness. Hmm… had no idea this one was retired. when did this stop getting made? This one says it was bottled first week of June… makes me think I found an old bottle in my rummages through the back sections of the cooler since I doubt that this was bottled just two months ago, must be the year before.. Kind of neat then. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 19, 2009 Crystal clear copper red with a big light tan head. Sheets of lacing. Big caramel aroma, candy apples, other mixed fruitiness. Taste is simple caramel, the fruit is there, with a bitter grassy hop finish. Malt aroma. Amber coloured and smooth on the palate with a crisp and slightly bitter dry malt finish. MrBunn (1523), Western, Pennsylvania, USA May 9, 2009 Bottle. Pours a copper color with a thin head. Aromas are an uninspiring mix of musty grain and wet dog. Chewy and thick caramel malt dominates the flavor with little sidecurrents or other moments to create interest apart from a little bit of nuts. Pretty weak. jkwalking05 (1483), Arlington, Texas, USA Jan 30, 2009 Amber color with some head. Not a whole lot of aroma but what there is little malt. Light hop tastes balances with the maltiness.
RasterMaster (120), , Oklahoma, USA Dec 28, 2008 Copper Amber pour into thin off white head that mostly dissipates into lingering lacings. Aroma of sweet malty caramel and light citrusy hops. Pours a dark amber body with an off white head. Sweet malty and carmel. Lightly malty with some light nuttyness. Bittersweet with a touch of butterscotch. Good brew. gringo332 (237), Richardson, Texas, USA Oct 18, 2008 Pours medium-dark amber with a large off-white head that quickly dissipates. Nice aroma of light caramel malts and dry fruit.
