COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Belgian-style Ale is a golden example of our traditional bold character, but with a little something special to commemorate this milestone. Fermented with Viognier grape juice, 20th Anniversary is both delicate and assertive. Big without being brutish, cunning without being cloying, this is a grown-up beer for a big-time celebration.

On tap at Scion restaurant in Silver Spring, MD. Cloudy, straw-yellow with an off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of unoaked Chardonnay, gentle citrus, bready malt, yeast, mild tropical fruit, coriander and even a modicum of butterscotch. The overall aroma is fair mild and none of the elements dominate. Taste of Chardonnay grapes, coriander, bready malt, citrus, grass, apple and white pepper. The flavor is not quite as interesting as the aroma. The wine grapes and coriander flavors play a dominant role. Medium/light body and medium carbonation. Unfortunately, the flavor does not match the anticipation created by the complex and balanced aroma. It tastes as much like a mulled wine as it does a beer. As with many brews, this one becomes more enjoyable as it warms. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hazy yellow pour, small white head. Sharp, acidic nose, lots wine like qualities. Tropical fruits, pale bready malts, and some strong yeasty esters. Perfect mouth feel and body. The finish is medium bitter, lots of white wine acidity, and fruity hops. Dangerously drinkable for an 8.2% beer.

Chalky yeast and berry aroma. Taste floral and yeasts. Notes of peaches, and slightly sour overall. Finish is long and warming.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. The aroma is spicy yeast phenolics, clove, slight fruity esters. The flavor follows suit. Strong phenolic character followed by a soft malt sweetness. I find this beer very enjoyable.

At the bocktown. Glad to see it styled as a strong ale. Has a slight hazy golden color. Barely any aroma. there is a sweet clean and mild olfactory. Taste is almost civilized for a domestic. Does not quite get to the civilized level of a real dubel or trip. Does have some of that belgy yeast feel in there. Is a tad medicine like on the finish. However, for 8% this hides the alky rather well.

Draught at Backcountry Pizza. Hazy golden color, white head. Bitter taste with hops, citrus, earthy notes, yeast, coriander and grass. Bitter finish with ripe fruits, citrus and earthy notes. Good belgian ale.

7/13/2014. 22 oz. bomber. It’s been a while since I’ve had a Great Divide beer, and my local store just got this one in. Pours hazy pale yellow with a white head. Aromas are funky yeast, grassy, spicy with hints of white wine. Very smooth, spicy flavors, the yeast is dominant. Very refreshing.

Pours a hazy, bubbly golden with a thick, frothy, snow-white head. Strong, fruity aroma has notes of malt, butterscotch, and yeast. Flavor has fruity, malty and hoppy notes plus hints of butterscotch and yeast. Firm texture is not overly fizzy, but still bold and lively. Happy Anniversary, Great Divide - and may you have a whole lot more!

From a bomber. Pours hazy yellow gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes like dry lemon, light spice, white grapes, dry cracker malt. Light body and low/medium carbonation. Smells like musky grains, light lemon, light alcohol, grassy.

Bottle. Pours hazy golden yellow with creamy white head. Aroma is bready and cereal malts, light spice, light grapes, faint floral notes, and light Belgian yeast esters. Flavor is dry with a malt-forward profile along with light toast, light citrus esters, faint hop bitterness, and fruity Belgian yeast esters; dry finish with a touch of sweetness. Medium body and carbonation.
