Dark amber body with a sparkling body, 1/3" thick tan head and solid lacing. Aromas of bran flakes, caramel and fresh cut wood are followed by an abundance of mild citrus fruits. Medium to heavy bodied, the beer is well balanced and blended nicely. No perception of a 10% abv whatsoever. Flavor develops as it warms and really started to outshine the wonderful aroma. Cereal, vanilla, tobacco, cedar and cloves are just the beginning. Grapefruit, orange and a faint woody taste follow up backed by a nice nutty quality. A jumble of different nuances really hold this beer together and provide something grand.

Bottle from GBBF ’10. Drank at home. Clear reddish-brown pour with a white head. Very nice aromas of fruits, toffee, caramel and malts. Excellent fresh hop attack on the palate. Caramel, vanilla and malt flavours. Sweet, fruity finish. Cockle warming tastiness.

Bottle. Pours a deep, beckoning nutty caramel body with a small, white head. Nose gives off caramel, molasses, oak and hints of vanilla and grassy hops. Taste follows with strong notes of oak , caramel and grass. Wow, this ale really has an impressive barrel aged profile; there are not so much hints of wood here, as a small *forest* being planted right in my mouth! Very dry and nutty, with malty tones as well as hints of fruity hops subtly hanging around in the back of the palate. Well balanced, smooth and velvety mouthfeel. A great brew with a pronounced profile - this could be an "educational beer" to teach the BA style of ale! :-D

Growler from Cloverleaf. Pours an amber color with a thin white foam head. Has an aroma of vanilla, oak, and caramel, with subtle hints of citrus. Starts dry and bitter, creamy mouthfeel. The hops are subdued by the vanilla/oak which adds to the smooth creaminess. Has a dry oaky finish. Very tasty.

22oz bottle to snifter. Clear amber with nice tan head. Aroma is exactly as expected from a DIPA wood. Hops with with oaky vanilla and caramel. Nice harmony between the oak and malts. A rebuy for me.

Pours dark orange and is sweeter than I would’ve expected. The wood come out in a sort of vanilla flavor. Sweet citrus hops are understated in favor of a more malty character.
