3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Veldrid (120) - Canton, Ohio, USA - MAY 9, 2011
22oz bottle. Pours an amber with off-white head. The aroma is dominated by oak notes and an herbal sweetness. The oak and vanilla are predominant in the taste and there is an earthiness as well. The beer has a bitter finish and this is the only place I got any hop presence at all.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 KAggie97 (3290) - Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA - JUL 1, 2009
Bottle from KAggie97. Kevin, if I was gay I would want you as my gay lover. You are beautiful inside and out. -sigh- Pours a thick, murky and slightly lively cheddar orange. Nose is, at first, heavy on the cereal and the malt; however, after it settles, the SOUR (yes, SOUR Mr. you-know-who!) notes take center stage. Orange, grapefruit, and a touch of sweet pine mingle all friendly-like in the glass, farting a pleasant aroma. Flavor is bready strawberry syrup quickly offset by grapefruit bread. Very boozy and tart in the finish; ABV seems too high for this beer, as it doesn’t seem to play nicely with the other ingredients. Nice, full mouthfeel that really slides along the tongue at a snail’s pace and leaves a trail of slime. A good beer, but just too boozy and malty in the finish to be a great beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 bitbucket (2082) - Kirkland, Washington, USA - JUL 5, 2009
Bomber, capped and foiled. Pours clear amber with a thick pale yellow head. Aroma of caramel and wood with a hint of citrus. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. Citrus and wood taste with a dry finish. For me, this beer fails to bring out the best of the IIPA style and barrel aging can provide. Not bad, but kind of a disappointment.

Draught. Red orange pour with thin head. Some citrus and much floral hop in aroma, but not a full aroma. Floral flavour with a full body. Fast dissapearing hop finish.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ljunkan (521) - Drammen, NORWAY - SEP 10, 2011
Pours a red copper color with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel, citrusy hops, oak and vanilla. Flavour is quite sweet with toffee/caramel, citrus, pine, wood and vanilla. Quite grassy bitterness. Medium bodied. A bit unbalanced and weird, but too bad.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 gkost (1361) - Tampa, Florida, USA - AUG 8, 2009
Bottle from Marwise. Poured orange. Nose is plastic, citrus, rubber, buttered popcorn, piney hops. Flavor is sweet malt, wood, butter, toasted malt and caramel. Then i trailed off into something about plastic again, but notes were drunk.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 changeup45 (1373) - Mount Dora, Florida, USA - SEP 1, 2009
Pours a nice copper color with a frothy khacki head with some decent staying power. The aroma shows oak, caramel malt, grains, and some floral notes. Flavors are a bit sticky, a lot of toffee and malt up front with bitter hops that mix with a ton of oak. I wouldn’t call this alcoholic but it is sticky with a little too much oak and sweet malt that over-power the hops at times. Bitter dry finish but I’d prefer if this were a little more hop forward. Hard for me to envision as a DIPA but I guess probably right for a Wood Aged version of one. I love the GD Oak Aged Stouts but I could never really get into this one. Just overall a bit odd. Still a decent beer though.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 drowland (3901) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - AUG 12, 2009
Bomber into an imperial pint glass. The pour is orangey-red with a huge and lasting off-white head. The aroma is big oak - fresh 2X4 mixed with vanilla beans and a hint of soapy malt. The flavor is sweet a bit at first followed by a hoppy dryness that reminds almost of burnt meat. Medium carbonation and a thickish creamy body.
