4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from a bomber into a goblet, a thick foamy head, one finger high, atop an amber beer with excellent clarity.
Aroma is dominated by piney, citrusy hops with a subtle edge of vanilla and oak. Alcohol begins to drop in the background as the beer warms. Flavor are intensely complex: hoppy - resinous, citrus -and bourbon oak barrel. Full body, nicely carbonated (medium).

16th Anniversary. 2015 Xmas gathering. Pours cloudy, chunky orange with no head and no lacing. Nose is maple, molasses. Flavour of syrup, fruit, earthy bitterness. Taste is medium/big sweet, medium bitter. Full creamy body with lively carbonation. Big, astringent finish. Nice!
18th Anniversary had as well. Very similar overall.

hard to rate this as one as I had different vintages that were scored drastically different, 4.1, 4.0 and a 3.4 for 18. gotta go with the average I guess.

2011 backlog. 17th Anniversary edition. Pours clear dark amber with a 2 finger thick white head that left chunky lacing. The nose is sweet caramel and ripe citrus. The taste is toffee, overripe citrus, and a nice tart grapefruit finish. Medium bodied. Tasty. 3.8

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
650 mL bottle of 17th Anniversary shared at Tippins at an impromptu tasting. Thanks Dom! The pour on this is a pale gold, with some darker tendencies and a nice tall white head and some moderate spotty lace. The aroma is definitely hoppy and bitter, but the oak almost provides a little bit of a vanilla malty sweetness toward the back end. It’s really good. The flavor is much of the same. The hops are definitely toned down from what I’d expect, and I think the oak has a large part of that. They offer a little more of an earthy character. It’s not as dominated by a hoppy presence as I’d expect for an double IPA, but it’s still quite good. The mouth feel is a little thin, but decently creamy, with a great carbonation, and a decent aftertaste, but there isn’t the citrusy dominance that I was hoping for. It’s a little dry, which is good

Backlog - 16th anniversary. Strong wooden notes and accompanying sweetness paired with the usual hop aromas.
