COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Belgian Style Yeti is a delicious new blend of brewing techniques - all the malt-driven roastiness of our Yeti Imperial Stout with characteristic spice and fruit notes imparted by our special Belgian yeast strain. Belgian Style Yeti is a one-of-a-kind beer as mysterious as the mythical creature himself. Impossible? See for yourself, you’ll be a believer, too.

Bomber. Like all Yeti’s, this one pours an extremely dark mahogany to nearly black hue. It looks oily and viscous in the glass, as the short, fluffy head of mocha tinted foam fades to a swirly film with a bubbled-up edge. A slight stain of the glass is trailed by small, sudsy dots, but no real hard lace. Aromas are nicely balanced, sporting just as much coffee and dark cacao roast as it does fruity fig, caramel and toffee-glazed nuts. I get hints of cake and brownie, maybe even some toasted coconut. The yeast profile distinguishes itself as Belgian with its fruity spice and relative dryness (as compared to the base Yeti). Flavors pull together nicely, again balanced as can be, touching on dark chocolate, torched caramel, mocha, and stewed dark fruits. Yeast again imparts a hint of breadiness, fruit, and soft spice. It’s simple, yet effective, altogether. The palate is probably the biggest (and most pleasant) surprise in this brew. Expecting heavy residual sugar, I was almost shocked to find a relatively effortless body that has attenuated out quite nicely. There’s a creamy, aerated sort of feel that is certainly less hefty than the slick, oily Yeti’s that I’ve known in the past. All in all, this might be my new favorite Yeti variant. The inclusion of the Belgian yeast seems to have done this beer right. It is rare for me to really enjoy an imperial stout these days, but this one did the trick.

Pours a dark black with a mocka colored head. Aroma is super malty smelling with loads of chocolate malts and roasted malts. Raspberry? Taste is thick on the palette with an abundance of sweet cloying malts. Seconds latter rich roasted malts and some bright hops come into play. Overall good but nothing really stands

Bottle. Black pour, mocha head. Thick and oily. Strong chocolate and roasted notes, hints of yeast, coffee. Wonderful variation with a great balance between the Yeti source and the yeast.

Strong coffee like aroma. Very dark appearance with medium tan head. Very sweet taste with semi bitter finish. Pretty smooth for a big beer. Very nice Yeti variation as usual.

Black beer. A nice big head that holds good, sticks nice to the glass. Good hippy, malts, chocolate, and a decent amount of spices. Something inside that makes it a bit less pleasant. Good biterness.

TET (790) - FINLAND - MAY 17, 2012
A black beer with a big, dense and beautiful brown head. Aroma is interesting, typical roastiness, liquirice and chocolate, also some sweet fruityness. Taste is strongly liquirice, roastiness, coffee, chocolate, medium sweetness and fruits, surprisingly fresh taste, maybe belgian yeast gives that fresh fruityness. Full bodied, but not heavy, velvety smooth to drink. Very enjoyable and balanced beer, great flavours served with velvety package.

Hmmm...don’t know what I expected here or what I think. Nose is a hot with some dark fruit (fig/prunes). Very dark roasted coffee on the finish..even more than the Espresso version. Bit thin mouthfeel for a Yeti. This just doesn’t come through for me, feels a bit disjointed (drank after 10 months of cellaring). Definitely my least favorite of the Yetis. Should drop it from the lineup and extend the availability of the others.
