Commercial Description:
The Roman name for the Low Countries–is a marriage of the best in American and Belgian brewing traditions. Belgian pilsner malt, a generous amount of American and European hops and a unique Belgian yeast strain combine to give Belgica big notes of citrus and spice, creating a lively concoction perfect for spring in the Rockies–or the Ardennes. 7.2% ABV.

First released as Belgian IPA:
Just for fun, the brewers took our Titan, a hop forward American IPA and introduced a Belgian yeast strain to it. The result is unique Belgian-style ale with lots of fruity esters, a citrus hop flavor and nice hop bitterness that’s surprisingly smooth. 7.5% alcohol by volume.

Draughts @ J. Clyde. Nice pour; light gold with a fluffy head. Medicinal, bandaid, and grassy aroma. Lightly hoppy and some bubblegum.

Pour is a clear yellow with a white creamy head. Settles quickly with lots of lacing. Feels is thin and highly carbonated, Evaporates of the tongue immediately, making this a refreshing beer. Taste is very bitter, and every so slightly sour. Smells of yeasty bread, sugar, newly cut grass, and bubble gum.

Pours from 12 oz bottle a clear amber-gold, with a thin white head, very good lacing. Smells of apple, banana, mango, grapefruit, and hay with some earthy, vegetable notes. Medium body, velvety. A little bit of caramel and spice up front, but a strong vegetable flavor overpowers it. Some hay and citrus in the medium-bitter finish. Flavour is of malt , light sweet bubblegum and a peppery floral hoppy finish. Nice dry bitterness that does linger for a while, resinous pine can come threw towards the end, overall decent beer.....

12oz. bottle. Aroma is an interesting blend of pale, pilsner malt sweetness, peppery spice, saltiness, herbal, grassy, lightly citric hop and prominent, doughy yeast notes. Clear, light golden color with a lasting, very fine head of white and sparse lacing left behind. Flavor follows the aroma very closely, with spicy, sharp yeast, pale, lightly sugary malts, grassy hop flavor, moderate bitterness and something that comes across as sweat, finishing very dry, peppery and almost dusty, with fading hints of lemon. As it warms, the alcohol and sweetness become more apparent, so that’s not something I’d recommend you let happen, really. Well carbonated, thin palate, body is pretty light for a beer of this strength. Pretty odd, all in all. I remember reading the commercial description here before I picked up the beer at the store, and apparently only retained the "Titan with Belgian yeast" part of it. This is nothing like that -- it really drinks like an Imperial Pilsner with Belgian yeast and a lot of hops (Saaz included, is my guess).

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. And I believe I got no bottle markup (well, 1/6th of one cent) because Josh is a hell of a guy. Pours a golden color with a thin head. Poor head retention and decent lacing. Aroma of nutty malts, toffee, pear, apple and stale leafy hops. Taste is very spicy, peppery, herbal hops with some nutty notes and sweet grainy malts. This is definitely a strange one. Medium bodied,

Pours clear near pale gold with semi frothy off white head. The aroma is Belgiany yeast spice, dry apricots, floral hops, mild grapefruit and grains. The taste is sweet with malts, a touch of grains and solid floral hops. It gets a little raisin like and peppery toward midway with a dash of grapefruit hop bitterness coming along for the ride. It runs to the finish basically unchanged.

12 oz bottle from Pineypower, thanks Dean. Pours with a huge bright white fluffy head that leaves some decent lacing but sits atop a slightly thin golden body or else this could have been a 5. Aroma was spicey, pepper, grains, grass and slight fruitiness. Thiner bodied with average carbonation that was highly quaffable and gave zero indication of the 7.2% ABV that it was packing. Flavor very similar to the aroma with lots of peppery spices and grassy grains. Hey is this a Belgian Ale or a wit??
