The Roman name for the Low Countries–is a marriage of the best in American and Belgian brewing traditions. Belgian pilsner malt, a generous amount of American and European hops and a unique Belgian yeast strain combine to give Belgica big notes of citrus and spice, creating a lively concoction perfect for spring in the Rockies–or the Ardennes. 7.2% ABV.

First released as Belgian IPA:
Just for fun, the brewers took our Titan, a hop forward American IPA and introduced a Belgian yeast strain to it. The result is unique Belgian-style ale with lots of fruity esters, a citrus hop flavor and nice hop bitterness that’s surprisingly smooth. 7.5% alcohol by volume.

A -Pours a clear golden body with a generous 2 finger white head that retains well. Nice sticky lacing patterns. S - Grassy earthy grain, musty clove, lemon, sweet floral. T - Candy sweet malt with a good amount of clove and pepper. Grassy, lemon citrus, honey, with floral hops adding earthy bitterness. The yeast provides a subtle funk. Finishes with a peppery bite. M - Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. A good American version. Would have liked more character from the yeast. Good spice and hop profile. Serving type: bottle 03-13-2011

Retired ? Found a bottle at mari’s. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma has orange peel and a little booze. Reminds me of a barley wine. The taste is rough .. A citrus sweetness and an off bitterness. Considering it’s retired its probably just past its prime.

Hazy light golden yellow pour with an overwhelming head. Nose is spicy and yeasty, with some hops. Taste is complex, sweetly bitter, with spices, yeast and alcohol. Finish is bitter and dry and somewhat lasting. Quaff Score 7 / 10

Pours a hazy yellow orange with a frothy white head and aroma of hops, yeast and floral notes. Taste is of sweet, of hops, yeast, fruits, peach, malt, and floral notes with bitter, sweet, medium finish. Different, nice brew, very drinkable.

Bottle. Pours a clear light amber with a huge fluffy white head that lingers. Aroma is sharp and yeasty, with malt, sugar, grass. Taste is sweet and bitter, with sugar, yeast, and bit of hops. Lingering light bitterness. Interesting.

In typical GD fashion, this was a pretty much "to expectations" beer with a nice citrus hopy taste lightly obscured by Belgian yeast spiciness. Good effort, sad it is apparently gone long after my drinking and reviewing.

[Sample thanks to Arve_Christian at L’Europe (Madrid)]. Cloudy golden colour with an excesive carbonic. White head, perfect lasting, foamy and nice lacework. Aroma has citrus notes, yeast and cinnamon. Flavour is alcoholic, slightly citrus and lime hints with a decent duration on palate. Carbonation and body is medium.

A-- Poured yellow, like the label. Small head, cloud white in color and it had good head retention and left no lacing. S-- Slightly sweet with a touch of malt. Slight bit of sugar and bread, Not a big smell, very faint. T-- A little more hop forward in the taste. Still get the bread and sugar smell but the hops are there off the bat. Not a big but it is there. Also get a little bit of citrus in this. Nice surprise. M-- Different but good. Like how it is hops at first then the Belgian style comes out.A little different to get hops, then bread and sugar, followed by dryness and citrus. D-- Decent Belgian IPA. nothing more

355 mL bottle at York Tap into a fluted glass. Cloudy orange colour with a bubbly, foamy head. Verry hoppy, light, dry, citrus, lime and orange, spiced. A tasty beer. A cross between IPA and witbier in taste. Hoppy and wheaty aroma.
