On draft at Star Bar in Denver. Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Nose is wood, roast, oak, vanilla, and some mild tart fruit character. Flavor is similar- chocolate, roast, vanilla, oak, and some tart fruit. The barrel does away with most of the barrel character, but leaves a fruity tartness. Interesting take on this beer. Nice stout overall. Medium in body with lingering wood and dark fruit.

Pour on tap at the 15th anniversary party, pour is inky black with creamy tan head, aroma has notes of big milk and dark chocolates, some espresso and coffee, hints of roast, some nice bourbon, vanilla, and slight oak, hints of spice and slight fruity notes from the yeast, including some black cherry. Taste is a mix of black cherry, some spicy yeast going into vanilla, oak and bourbon notes, touch of caramel leading into dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and coffee/espresso, touch of roast finishing fairly sweet. Nicely done.

Tap @ Great Divide’s 18th Anniversary party. Black appearance with a dark brown head. A bit boozy, moderate whiskey, rich chocolate, coffee aroma. The belgian yeast comes through a little more in the flavor with notes of rich dark chocolate, thick espresso, light toffee, vanilla, whiskey flavor. Fairly sweet and quite boozy but way better than the Leopold Belgian Yeti that I had previously. Really night and day between this one (great!) and the Leopold version (yuck!)
