We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes.

Hop forward for a stout. Just like the regular yeti on the nose but adds a nice background chocolate note to the yeti goodness. The chocolate is there but definitely not upfront. Favorite part of this for me was the creamy smooth mouthfeel. A nice subtle variation of a stellar stout. If your looking for a desert beer this isn't it since the hops dominate the sweetness but a great offering nonetheless. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This draft brew from a beer bar poured a head of foamy brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a no visible carbonation opaque dark black brown colored body and a poor lacing. The nice aroma was dark chocolate and chocolate. The smooth mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong mild roasted malt aftertaste. The nice flavor contained notes of semi-sweet roasted malt burnt malt chocolate brown malt and dark malt. Delicious and one I would certainly like to have again.

On tap at Great Divide and then a bomber in Japan. Pitch black with a beige head. Soft cacao, umami and oak - enticing. The taste is dark bitter chocolate, smoke, oak and savoury goodness. Excellent.

Bottled on March 17th, 2016. This was poured into a snifter. The appearance was a dark brown color almost black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated nicely semi-thin film of lacing running sporadic all around the glass. The smell had milk chocolate bouncing with a oaky/woody dryness all around it. Subtle vanilla slides in underneath. As it warms, some super light cayenne pepper does make a light presence. The taste was dry and milk chocolate sweet. Lingering sweet cocoa to heat-like aftertaste, nice. Spicy cayenne in the finish. On the body, this one sat about a medium on the body. Heat definitely helps it have a great sipping quality about it. Carbonation feels light enough to allow the heat and pepper become a bit drying with a decent stickiness about it. Overall, wonderful imperial stout that I would definitely have again.

Draft 10 oz pour at the Beer Junction for their chocolate beer week. Pours a jet black with a consistent tan head. Roasted malt, chocolate aroma, but a bit watery. Chocolate forward flavor, with a dominated roasted background. Very woody, and coffee throughout. Slight smoke in the finish. Overall a fun, tasty beer.

(Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout - Chocolate Oak Aged ) Bottle 650 ml at home, served into a snifter after letting it warm up a bit. ABV 9.5% Pitch black colour on the body with almost two full fingers of thick and creamy, dari brown head on top, with good retention. Aroma has lots of milky chocolate, light alcohol, light vanilla, some wood and olive pit, cocoa. Taste is nicely bitter, I expected it to be cloying sweet but that’s not the case, dark bitter chocolate, some roasted malts, cocoa powder, the cayenne barely notable on the finish of the sip, just enought to make things interesting, well hidden alcohol. Full body, good soft carbonation, mildly sticky on the palate. Great beer.
