We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes.

Cherry oak aroma. Fantastic aroma and palate! The oak really comes through on the palate.

This is heaven on the tongue. Aroma is: dark fruits plumb, currant, maybe raisin, smoke, woodiness, oak, roasted malts, chocolate. Incredibly complex aroma. Pitch black pour, dark brown head that lasts very long. The taste follows the aroma well, lots of woody oak, mild bitterness, mild alcohol, chocolate, roasty malts. Everything is amplified here: the flavors, aroma, appearance... its all kicked up a notch compared to other stouts. It’s a home run brew.

Looks like a Yeti...huge tan head is thick and creamy and tops an enormously black body, seemingly opaque. Retention is strong.
Roast seems most prominent here, quite dry, ashen and with tons of vanilla in tow. House yeast character is there too, adding a touch of plastic-like phenolics. Dark chocolate notes are not overdone nor is there too much oakiness or even booziness. Not quite as much vinousness (prunes, raisins, plums and such) as I’d like, but with the cocoa nibs contributing a lot of the charactter, I wasnt really expecting a lot of vinousness.
Tastes like the Yeti of old...still that massive viscosity and yet well-attenuated. Chocolate character is sweet but tempered by the dry roastiness and light citric hoppiness. Barrel character is held at bay by the huge chocolate gooeyness and seems to have just a sourdough-like oakiness that comes off a bit redundant with the dark chocolate and roast bitterness. Certainly in your face and not subtle in the flavor department but still somewhat endearing. I dont know maybe that’s just nostalgia as Yeti is one of my old favorites. Good, if somewhat a little too aggressive (and phenolic).

Bottle - Dark chocolate and chilli. Jet black with a brown head. Dark chocolate, the chili is very subdued but there and a slight bitter finish. A little boozy but still quite nice.

Bottle shared by Albatross, thanks! Pours a dark brown with a light brown/beige head that leaves some lacing. Nose is of chocolate, roasted malt, coffee. Taste is on the sweet side with some milk chocolate and vanilla flavors. Carbonation is higher than I’d have expected but body is still full so that’s OK. Overall a good IS although I can’t say if it was really an improvement over the original Yeti.
