3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared at the Syb Pig. Snifter. Pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, cocoa nibs, cayenne, and roasted malts. Taste is similar with the sweeter chocolate first and then the chilis coming through at the finish. Nothing overwhelming...just subtle. Thick and creamy. Also finishes with a little vanilla. Full body and moderate carbonation. Good beer.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
The Chocolate Oak Aged variant of Yeti is delightfully random-ass. While there are some Imperial Stouts that are playing with the spicy pepper/cocoa combination, I canít think of many brewers that are throwing oak aging into that equation. This Yeti pours like chocolate syrup with dark brown foam. The aroma gives you a sense of all the craziness going on in here. Thereís the usual Yeti note of charred malt, then thereís oak, pepper, and cocoa. Flavor features dark chocolate, spicy fresh cocoa, coffee, oak, hops (though the distinctive bite is somewhat subdued), and a little cayenne. Despite being a big, boozy beer with lots of complexity, Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti is ridiculously easy to drink. I donít know when Iíll have my next opportunity to try a new Yeti Stout, but I canít wait for the chance.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Glass: 12-oz. pint goblet (I think)
From: Monkey Paw Brewing in San Diego, Calif.
Purchased: July 21, 2015
Consumed: July 21, 2015
Poured a pitch black color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy, tan head when I got it. Great looking layered foamy spiderweb lacing on the sides of the glass. Average-to-above average retention on the top. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled toffee, caramel, roasted nuts, hazelnut, espresso, vanilla, chocolate syrup, dark cocoa, some bitter black coffee malts and chocolate milk. (Smell - 3.88)
Got oak right away in the taste. Also toffee, dark chocolate, bitter coffee beans, hazelnut, roasty nuts, espresso, dark cocoa nibs, vanilla and boozy chocolate syrup. (Taste - 3.75)
Full body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.88)
This was a decent beer, but a bit disappointing overall. I probably wouldnít order it again on purpose. (Overall - 3.75)

Bottle. Pitch black with a moderately lasting dark brown head. Good lacing. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, bitter roasted malts. Taste is of chocolate, vanilla, more bitter roasted notes, peppery kick is noticeable in the finish followed by a hint of the alcohol. Sticky oily texture, medium carbonation. Lovely.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, at The Corner Foodery, Philadelphia. A black beer topped by a dense, tan head. Lacings. The aroma is quite intense, with chocolate, oak notes, mocha and molasses. Itís smooth and full-bodied, hiding the alcohol very well. Thereís some in the flavor, but thereís not much warmth to speak of. Itís sweet but with a nice hoppy bitterness. Coffee, chocolate, molasses and a touch of oak too. Everlasting finish with lots of dark delights and a fine hoppy bitterness. Delicious. 150622

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours a black with a nice brown head. Smells like coca and vanilla. Taste is roasted coffee with oak barrel. Beer is pretty boozy, so this stout would be PERFECT to let sit for a few years. Simply amazing. Honestly the only thing keeping this from being a perfect beer is how boozy it is.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle shared by Spencer. 2015 vintage. The pour is a thinner light black with a thick dark khaki head and some great lacing. The aroma is heavy on chocolate malts and bitter roast. There is a nice oakiness and there is a pretty strong booziness. The flavor is definitely full of bitter chocolate malts. There is a nice roast, but it's pretty plain and the oak doesn't really show up. The mouth feel is thin and light with not a lot of carbonation, and a lingeringly chocolatey bitter aftertaste

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A- pours a deep syrupy brown with a finger of mocha mahogany head that thins to nothing. S- lots of dark chocolates, mocha, coca, cherry, roasted malts and charcoal up front. Some vanilla and licorice nuances. Cayenne is faint but perceptible. Tobacco. Earth and chalk contribute to an overall arid characteristic. M- medium to full dry creamy body with some chewiness. Virtually no carb. T- not as appealing as the aroma. Almost watery throughout with a really dry and bitter end that showcases the hops exclusively with a little pepper. Early in here is the bakers chocolate, coffee grounds, charred steak and earth. Middle has vanilla and oak with some tobacco, crackers and dry grass. Some cordial. Not overwhelming but a good almost summer brew.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Good Dog. Opaque pour with a light brown head that left lace. Deep but temperamental chocolate flavors. Semi-sweet cocoa mixed with Ambesol. Coffee grounds. Good amount of khaki lace. Strong charcoal grill flavors. Smores. Dry ginger root. Bright chocolate liquorice. Browned banana. Black peppercorns. Nice expansive beer. Betters expectations.
