We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes.

Bottle shared at the Syb Pig. Snifter. Pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, cocoa nibs, cayenne, and roasted malts. Taste is similar with the sweeter chocolate first and then the chilis coming through at the finish. Nothing overwhelming...just subtle. Thick and creamy. Also finishes with a little vanilla. Full body and moderate carbonation. Good beer.

(Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout - Chocolate Oak Aged ) Bottle 650 ml at home, served into a snifter after letting it warm up a bit. ABV 9.5% Pitch black colour on the body with almost two full fingers of thick and creamy, dari brown head on top, with good retention. Aroma has lots of milky chocolate, light alcohol, light vanilla, some wood and olive pit, cocoa. Taste is nicely bitter, I expected it to be cloying sweet but that’s not the case, dark bitter chocolate, some roasted malts, cocoa powder, the cayenne barely notable on the finish of the sip, just enought to make things interesting, well hidden alcohol. Full body, good soft carbonation, mildly sticky on the palate. Great beer.

Bouteille 650ml. Carbonatation faible, corps dense, crayeuse.

Pours near black with a frothy brown head. Nose is dark sweet chocolate and a little coffee. Some hops on the front with a tame chocolate malt sweeping in. Backside is semi bitter. Alcohol is well hidden.

22oz bottle, poured into a snifter. The aroma is tart cherry wood that mellows and reveals semisweet chocolate, dark fruits, and undertones of wood with some roasted notes. The beer is jet black and oily with a dark brown, reddish, dense soap head that has a mild, filmy retention and a good lace. The taste is highly sweet with a medium high bitter supplemental note. The texture is thick and sticky with a small fuzzy carbonation and full body. The taste is a dark, rich cocoa nibs and dark fruit blend with a finish that’s woody with notes of fudge, cocoa nibs, raisins, and nuts. The aftertaste is mildly chalky with dark chocolate and roasted nuts. It’s cloying and lingering.

Best variant of Yeti. The chocolate tones down the oak aged and makes this one of my favorite brews.

Pours a dark black with a thick khaki head that leaves lots of lacing around the glass. The aroma is oak, alcohol, chocolate, vanilla, and woodiness. The taste is woodiness and oak up front with some alcohol in the flavor as well and you pick up the chocolate and vanilla on the back end. I don't really pick up the cayenne in the nose or flavor.

Draft. Mild aroma. Definite chocolate flavor but oak aged is lacking. Still great beer, just thought would be different

Thanks to Jon for sharing the bottle. Pitch black with a small half-finger head of brown foam that dissipates fairly quickly. Big roasted cacao, milk chocolate and bitter espresso aromas on the nose. Lots of roasted cacao and bitter coffee on the palate. Medium body with average carbonation. Finish lingers and is dry, roasty and bitter. Roasted bitter bomb for sure.
