We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes.

On the spectrum of "beers trying to be Hunahpu" this rates as solidly "not Hunahpu" although only by about 1.1 beer deviations. It is less sweet than its forebearer and shows fewer chocolate and vanilla, gaining a bit of pepper and obviously woody character in the tradeoff. Still a very good beer.

Bottle, black and thick beer, big dark khaki head fades, decent lace. Aroma coffee, vanilla, plum, oak, molasses. Taste is coffee and chocolate chip cookies, vanilla, molasses. A little sweet, but huge roasty chocolate cookies. Palate is super rich, carbonation nicely subdued. Cranking this rate. So roasty, so huge, so deep!

Pitch black with a thick brown head fading into a good lace and veil. Chocolate liquor, vanilla and sweet chai spices comes through in the aromas. Rich, velvety palate, low carbonation, almost full bodied, loads of cocoa flavors, multi-layered with ligt spices in the end. Alcohol is so well hidden here. Delicious impy stout.

Into a taser showing pitch black with sparse coffee brown foam. The nose shows a lot of good roasted coffee notes. The palate is light bodied, foamy, smooth, with a strong coffee tartness. Coffee bitterness with a roasted smoky note on the linger. Slight oak permeates throughout the palate but it seems slightly too light for a stout.

650 mL bottle. 2011 vintage. Hops are gone, and carbonation seems down, but this is still a damn fine beer. Cocoa and oak dominate, but each of these offer a complex variety of flavours. Body is great.

Motor oil, beige, brown on the edges head. Very aromatic, powerful, Kahlua, cocoa, alcohol. A rolling wave of thick flavor on the tongue, dark roasted malts, rye, plums. Slightly effervescent in the finish....lingering breathy chocolate...so much milk chocolate. The beer is big....delightfully!
