COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

Dark Scottish Ale caramel malt, light on the bitter and medium bodied. Alcohol is well blended, missing the earthiness I enjoy in a Scottish Ale.

A bit syrupy sweet with a rather flat palate. Packs a punch, but not like any wee heavy I’ve had. Enjoyable but I am not impressed.

this is a good style for me and fitting for Scotland. Damp brown murky color. aroma of sweet caramel, salt and fresh over turned earth. taste is light sweet and moist grass finishing with a whiskey malt vapor. just some light sparkling texture. good contrast to its deep and heavy other qualities.

Bottle. A well balanced, thick and rich Scotch Ale. Sweet syrup with a little smoke and roasted malts. Light bitterness. Carbonation is just right. Some alcohol at the finish. Tasty.

12/30/11 On tap at the Great Divide tasting room in Denver. Deep, sweet malty aroma. Taste is malt and sweet chocolate biscuit. Not much hops noticeable. Good beer

aroma, malty old sugary in the nose, color, dark hue, hardly no head, some faom around glass, very thick looking, taste, at first I did get a touch of smoke, then the strong malt profile, comes through, and on the backend that old sugary taste, no bad, overall, I thought this was a awesome wee heavy, nice balance and smooth, first time Ive ever seen in a 6’er

I always start Scotch Ales with a bit of apprehension that they’re going to be too hopped. Thankfully, Great Divide has used restraint in the right way here. Smoked peat, toasted malt with just a hint of sweetness, but it’s far from cloying. Chocolate, raisins, and some wood in the finish. Hops do add some bitterness but they are kept in check, just like they should be in this style.

Bottle. Brown color with a tan head on it. Smell is sweet and malty with a little bit of a hop presence in it. Taste smooth and thick with plenty of carbonation. A basic run of the mill scotch ale that drinks better than most others. Not bad all in all.
