COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

Pours dark brown with hints of ruby and a smaller beige head that leaves some spotty lace. Nose involves some peated malt, licorice, dark fruit, hearty toasted bread, with deep caramel and molasses. Very sweet flavor with a fair bitterness. Full, round body, softer carb, creamy, with a long toasty bitterness on the end. No alcohol detected. A big, sweet, dessert-like beer. Nicely done.

Bottle; poured a brownish color. Sweet aroma, with fig, alcohol, caramel malt. Taste had more chocolately and creamy/smooth elements. Palate had a nice viscosity. Roasted malt, but not to smoky.

Bottle; poured a nice looking, very dark auburn color; almost ruby. Nice rich aroma of cocoa, roasted malt, peat, caramel with some sweetness. Flavor was also nice with the same components, but a more pronounced fruit presence. Nice mouthfeel. Alot of caramel and roasted/smoky elements. Quite a tasty brew

This is a beer where the aroma doesn’t match the taste in my opinion. A slight aroma of malt, bread and bourbon. The taste is smoky, malty and slightly sweet with a dry finish.

A dark brown ale with a thick collapsing lacing brown head. In aroma, sweet dark cherries with light chocolate, light vanilla, nice. In mouth, a nice sweet peaty chocomalt with light grassy hops, molasses, light licorice, lingering peatyness, very nice.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a cream colored head that slowly dissipates. The aroma is sweet and bready. Flavor is sweet and then bitter, with a nice complexity - caramel, cereal grains, nuts - leading to a mild slightly sweet finish. I like how the hops are in the background on this one. But I might also like a hint of smoke.

EtTuCthulhu (396) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - APR 5, 2013
The aroma smells like basement aromas and toasted malts, and the appearance is a dark brown color with a medium off-white head. The taste is quite umami, mildly sour, and slightly sweet; the palate combines a thick texture, medium body, soft carbonation, and the finish is long and slightly smoky.

Nice flavor and body. It’s smoky, peaty, malty, caramel, with slight hops. I could drink more of these.

Bottle, pours clean hazelnut with creamy taupe head, very nice smoky, meaty, peaty aroma, sweet and smoky, a fair amount of cola in there, finishes just a bit tacky. I wish the flavor lived up to the aroma, wanted a bigger meatier profile
