Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of daknole. Pours an orangey brown with an off-white head. Sweet aroma of nuts, caramel and overripe, dark fruit. Rather solid body, sweet almost syrupy dark fruits, toffee and brown sugar. Hardly any bitterness. Solid and well crafted. 090710

Bottled@Oliver Twist, Stockholm (thanks to the guys from Ölfrämjandet who shared some beers with me). Ambery brown colour, small off-white head. Aroma is leather, toffee, caramel malts, plum and wood along with some fruityness as well. Flavour is quite much the same with the leathery notes being rather dominating. Yet very easy to drink.

Opaque dark brown beer with a small bubbly tan head. Smooth palate with light fine carbonation. Light and sweetish dark malts. Little lactose and tang, Mellow dark fruits underneath. Whisper of something a little spicy. Finishes light and semi dry. Decent.

Tap at Blind Tiger. A delicious Scotch Ale. Pours a dark amber with a medium, white head. Aroma is malty, with notes of caramel and scotch. Flavor is quite sweet, with plenty of rich caramel, some butter, hints of fruit, finishing with faint bitterness. Without a doubt has that Scotch Ale character, and here it is beautiful. Medium in body with average carbonation, lightly syrupy. Nice!

Pours an mahogany color with a khaki colored head. Nose is lightly smokey with a decent amount of roast and lots of caramel sweetness. Some cola, hints of fruit, and molasses. Very sweet on the palate. Lots of caramel, brown sugar, and cola. Light roasted malt, some toast, and a bit of spiciness. Maybe a hint of alcohol in the background and a very light peat flavor.
