COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

Toffee, Chocolate aroma. No head on mine but might be because of the glass I'm using. Really great tasting. My first Scottish ale so not much experience to compare too but it's a keeper to me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark cola colour with small non-persistent beige head. Aroma is sweet dark malts, dark chocolate, light peat. Taste is quite similar to an imperial porter but with a very light peat - dark chocolate, dark fruits, light peated whisky. Quite sweet, medium bodied and sticky. Quite good.

Rich deep brown. Nose is caramel malts, light smokiness. Malt driven with lightly burnt caramel/toffee, tingly, light smoke, dark wildflower honey. Really well done scotch ale. Don’t understand why this is in the summer line up. Awesome fall beer here...should bump Hibernation later into winter and push this back to fall.

Pours a lot like a stout. Beige head. Sweet aroma with a bit of roastiness. Taste is sweet with flavors of caramel and a little bitterness. Talk about a hole in one.

12 oz bottle. Aroma: malty, woody, and slightly smokey and roasty, with hints of raisin. Taste/Palate: sweet; starts creamy, and finishes slightly crisp. I usually dislike Scotch ales, but this one has enough malty sweetness to offset the peated malt. Not half bad.

Poured from a 12. Aroma was boozy. Flavor is sweet with caramel, molasses and a great malty mouthfeel. Alcohol is masked very well. It has a slightly astringent, bitter aftertaste. Overall a great beer. I could drink too many of these!

12 oz bottle from Giant Eagle in Pittsburgh. Great taste and a perfect flavor combo. A very good product from Great Divide.

Near black garnet pour with a thin, creamy tan head that has excellent retention and leaves a little lacing, while the beer itself coats the glass a surprising amount as well. Aroma is loaded with really deep caramel notes, toasted nuts, some toffee, doughy yeast, brown malt, roast, chocolate and some herbal and floral hops. Flavor is loaded with nutty, chocolate and roasty notes up front, then lots of dark caramel, some nice smoky notes, crispy waffle, musty wood, damp earthy notes, light clove and anise. An occasional odd sulfur note pops up, but never lasts long. Medium body, chewy to syrupy feel throughout, light, blanketing and somewhat sharp carbonation. Really damn tasty, if they had nailed the mouthfeel my score would be much higher.

Nice malty, caramely beer with minimal sweetness but low sourness. Not much alcohol noticeable which is nice too.

Dark brown opaque, light head, slight lace. Malty aroma with a bit of spice kick to it. Smooth, malty toffee with a hint of cherry smoke finishes with a clean light bitter kind of herbal/citrus but too clean to tell and sweet malt in the forefront, leaves you with sweet malt on the tongue. Not a style I enjoy often but decent for the style.
