3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle pour into nonic pint glass from Greg & Janeís Beer and Wine. Aroma is roasted malts/toffee with notes of espresso bean chocolate and coffee. Appearance is deep, dark mahogany (black unless light source behind) with nice sparkle, 1/2 finger-width beige head with poor retention and minimal lacing. Taste is caramel/toffee with hints of chocolate and dark fruit. Palate is medium bodied with creamy, thin texture, soft carbonation until late liveliness, mix of sweet and bitter long finish. Overall, a nice brew consistent with style but leaning toward Porter or Stout.

Claymore scotch ale
A ruby mahogany with a malty (pumpernickel?) bready aroma. Full malty sweet with a bit of a bite: caramel, fudge and bitter greens. Alright.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with a bottling date of March 01, 2016. Nearly black pour with short lasting head. Aroma of burnt malts, burnt leaves, low hops, and soap. Not really what I hoped for in the style. The body is a tad under medium. The taste does not have the rich malty characters of most Scotch Ales that I have had. It has a burnt malt character with a mild bitterness to finish. This is a style that I rally love and enjoy and it did not hit me as well as it did for some of the previous reviewers.

2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Smells a little like malt. Looks a little too dark for a scotch. Tastes a little too much like chocolate for a scotch. Body is a little too heavy for a scotch. Itís kinda like a porter/scotch hybrid. Itís not bad, but itís not as easy drinking as a scotch should be.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Opaque deep mahogany, light white head. Vanilla, molasses, light hay. Good amount of bitter tang, big sweet body. Heavy, oily, coats the palate. Not a ton of carbonation. Long finish. Quite good.
