Not an award winner but a solid beer to be sure. Good color and quite dark in appearance minimal head when poured and is gone fast. Roasty and flavorful. I enjoyed it very much.

(Bottle, 0.355 l, at Bar Molotow, 20160919) The beer poured deep mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, caramel and molasses. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, grass, sweetness, sugary sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, sweet and bitter. A good brew spoilt by the excessive sweetness.

Tap at Great Divide. Orange-brown with lace. Full, sweet malt flavor, a bit of smoke of peat, a touch of soy. Caramel and chocolate of course. Decent, though not one of the best in this style.

Bottle 330ml (2014) – cellared for 2 years. Served at room temperature. Pours a very dark brown (almost black) with a ruby tint. Head is small, lightly tanned, and mostly lasting. Aroma is rich and malty with notes of earthy hops (light); smokey toast, caramelized dates, sultana’s, figs, chocolate fudge, burnt brown sugar and a dash of vanilla essence. Flavour is smooth with a very light earthy bitterness, toasted malts, roasted barley, burnt caramel, muscatels, dark rum and raisin chocolate, treacle (light), aniseed (light) and some smokey/peated notes in the finish. Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation, a silky texture and a superb finish. A truly superb Scotch ale in every sense!

Smooth and malty, caramel, earthy, light peat. Little to no hop character. Warming and not too sweet. I’m a big fan of Scotch & Old Ale and this ticks all the boxes. Lovely.

A very tasty scotch ale. Pours a beautiful deep red with a white head. Not much smell, a bit of malt, sea salt, caramel and cucumber. Taste has fruitiness and sea salt, caramel right up front, with a nice salty follow-through, and cucumber in the finish. Had in the bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a black color with minimal brown head. Earthy aroma with a bit of smokiness. Somewhat sweet with some smoke character. Medium bodied with slightly smoky finish. Pretty good.

A very dark brown, almost beer beer. A head is medium and beige. Aroma has dark fruityness, earthyness, ryebread and some chocolate. Taste has breadyness, some ryebread, balanced sweetness, richness of malts, hint of chocolate. Not too sweet. Medium+ bodied, very smooth and enjoyable to drink. Warming in the throat. Rich and calm, malty beer.
