3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz Bottle. The pour was a very dark brown with a slight ruby hue and an average (1-2 finger) light tan creamy head that was mostly diminishing, down to a thin film with a small collar and fair streaky lacing.
The aroma was of a roasted caramel malt, a very mild resin hop and a sweet leathery yeast with notes of molasses, toffee, chocolate and some dark fruit (prunes and figs).
The taste was malty and sweet with a hint of molasses and mild chocolate presence at first, and then progressed with a little toffee sweetness, a touch of dark fruit and a mild bitter finish. The flavor was short lived and steadily faded at a moderate pace from the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was a hair below medium in body and rather creamy in texture with a pretty much flat carbonation.
Overall a nice sweet and robust brew, with a great feel and an awesome drinkability...

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
355ml bottle. Pours a clear very deep ruby, verging on black, with a small light beige head, which lasts reasonably well and leaves a little lacing. Sweet caramel and treacle malt, plus a little sweet drinking chocolate, make up the aroma. Mild floral hops up front give way to a little sweet milk chocolate, with strong treacle in the mid-palate. A slightly fruity finish has notes of stewed plums. A nice Scotch ale, and a good one for the winter months.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A- Bacon, coffee, brown sugar, malts, smokey, roasty.
A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, brown head.
T- Bacon, coffee, soy sauce, smokey, caramel, cocoa, woody, robust.
P- Full body, average texture, subtle carbonation, smooth finish.
O- A full bodied and smooth and rich beer. A lot darker color than I was expecting. The aroma and taste was a lot like bacon and coffee. It reminded me of breakfast. Balanced well and a complexity to it, Iíve never had before. Not too much wrong with this beer!

Claymore is probably the most badass name a Scotch Ale could have. Great Divideís consistently awesome bottle artwork doesnít hurt either. When a brew looks this good (both inside and outside of the bottle) and has a cool title you definitely want it to be great. Luckily, Great Divide came through on that part. Claymore pours a dark brown color with some tan head. Aroma has lots of coffee but also a pronounced soy sauce characteristic. In short, itís damn rich. I must say that the complex taste was delicious. Coffee, chocolate, caramel, and dark fruit give Claymore a refined sweetness. The smoky umami taste that reveals itself at the back of the mouth will have you dreaming of dark meat. Maybe next time, Claymore. Maybe next time.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a mahogany in color with thin beige head. The aroma contains earthy malts and caramel on top, which are than complimented by raisin, smoke, and very faint chocolate. The taste is very malty. Lots of earthiness in here, with toffee, peat, and chocolate coming out much more. The aftertaste is strong but short, with those earthy malts and some chocolate. Medium in body, while being thicker in texture, with a more flat amount of carbonation. This one is alright. It isnít my favorite style, so others may like this more than I do.
