COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our homage to the beers that have quenched the thirst of Belgian farm workers for centuries. Brewed with barley, wheat and rice and fermented at high temperatures with a special blend of four different yeast strains, Saison is fruity and slightly tart, with a dry finish that makes it that rarest of treats–a beer as refreshing as it is complex. 7.3% ABV.

Growler. Pours hazy golden with a decent, frothy eggshell head. Aroma has fruity and yeasty notes riding a malty undertone. Crisp flavor has a strong fruity core of pear, banana and apple with tart citrus and wheaty hints. Texture is firm, though fizz is not strong or persistent. Brings a bit of summer into a chilly winter.

Pours hazy yellow with a huge white head. Aroma is dry, and light wheaty flavoured with citrus and estery. Taste is dry, citric and slight spiced. Light peppery and yeasty finish.

glennmastrange (2423) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - FEB 12, 2015
Bottle. Moderate malt and hops aromas of hay, grass and lemon, with hints of pear and vinegar. Head is small, fizzy, white with spots of lacing and good legs, and is fully diminishing. Color is sparkling clear light amber. Flavor starts slightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes slightly sweet and lightly to moderately acidic. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, slick with a fizzy carbonation. Great flavors and aromas, with a pleasant palate make this a perfect go-to Saison.

From a bottle. Pours slightly hazy straw colour, thin head, fruity wine aroma, mild sour flavours, not the strongest of the farmhouse ales. Quite nice.

TH28 (234) - - DEC 30, 2014
Appearance: Cloudy, light golden, with an almost nonexistent white foam cap. Aroma: Fruity, dominated by apple and pear, with a hint of peppery yeast. Taste: Apple, pear, with an earthy, herbal hop character. Yeast adds a slight spiciness. Mouthfeel: medium with a light carbonation. Poured from a bottle and was flatter than a typical saison should be. Not the freshest example Finish: Lingering pear and moderate tart dryness. Overall: I’ve had fresher pours of this on draft that were much more flavorful and effervescent. This bottle was 118 days old and the typical spice and tartness were dulled, with fruit flavors more prominent.

Smells like funky yeast but quite tart and citrusy on top of that. Tartness dominates the taste for a long time but eventually you’re left with the yeasty funk of a saison.

Poured from a bottle at home. Pours pale gold with thin head. Mild and clean aroma of malt, wild yeast, green apple. Similar taste. Not my favorite Great Divide but still decent.
