Our homage to the beers that have quenched the thirst of Belgian farm workers for centuries. Brewed with barley, wheat and rice and fermented at high temperatures with a special blend of four different yeast strains, Saison is fruity and slightly tart, with a dry finish that makes it that rarest of treats–a beer as refreshing as it is complex. 7.3% ABV.

Appearance: Cloudy, light golden, with an almost nonexistent white foam cap. Aroma: Fruity, dominated by apple and pear, with a hint of peppery yeast. Taste: Apple, pear, with an earthy, herbal hop character. Yeast adds a slight spiciness. Mouthfeel: medium with a light carbonation. Poured from a bottle and was flatter than a typical saison should be. Not the freshest example Finish: Lingering pear and moderate tart dryness. Overall: I’ve had fresher pours of this on draft that were much more flavorful and effervescent. This bottle was 118 days old and the typical spice and tartness were dulled, with fruit flavors more prominent.

Smells like funky yeast but quite tart and citrusy on top of that. Tartness dominates the taste for a long time but eventually you’re left with the yeasty funk of a saison.

Poured from a bottle at home. Pours pale gold with thin head. Mild and clean aroma of malt, wild yeast, green apple. Similar taste. Not my favorite Great Divide but still decent.

12 ounce bottle. Hazy pale gold color. Big rocky white head. Yeasty, lemony malt aroma. Zesty, bready malt flavor has a wonderful tart citrus character. Refreshing and tangy with an earthy maltiness. Some wheat-like notes as well.finishes dry and champagne-like.

Bottle at home. Pours pale gold with thin head. Slightly cloudy. Mild and clean aroma of malt, wild yeast, green apple. Opens light with some sweet, fruity notes, developing into a bit of yeasty funkiness toward the middle. Tart, crisp finish. Though rather light in character, it has a surprisingly heavy mouthfeel. Not heavy overall, just more than expected. Very clean, pleasant, refreshing beer.

This beer pours a hazy whitish-yellow color with a small white bubbly head that dissipated very quickly even with an aggressive pour. The aroma biscuit and pineapple. The beer has a rather tropical aroma to it. The pineapple is picked up in the flavor yet stronger in the aroma. The taste also has some bready yeast flavor to it and some very slight spices to it but not much. Worth a try!

Bottle. A- Lemons, wheat, slight funk, subtle spice. A- Yellow color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Wheat, lemons, funk, subtle spice. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly funky finish. O Seemed more along the lines of a wheat ale than a farmhouse. Not much spice and just a little funk that sets it apart from anything different. Just needed a lot more depth to this one. Refreshing though.
