COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our homage to the beers that have quenched the thirst of Belgian farm workers for centuries. Brewed with barley, wheat and rice and fermented at high temperatures with a special blend of four different yeast strains, Saison is fruity and slightly tart, with a dry finish that makes it that rarest of treats–a beer as refreshing as it is complex. 7.3% ABV.

Draft at Capital Ale House Harrisonburg. Hazy yellow with a thin head. Decent head retention. Aroma of bread, citrus, stone fruits, earth, spice, candi sugar. The taste is herbal, earthy notes, pepper, stone fruits, biscuit malts. Medium bodied, low carbonation.

Theydon_Bois (7944) - The ’Sham, Surrey, ENGLAND - SEP 1, 2012
Bottle at the Buckhorn Exchange, Denver - 31/05/12. Hazy yellow with a small white head that soon thins to a ring atop the glass. Yeast, spice, grass, citrus nose. Taste similar to nose with a little pepper, herbs, vegetal, farmy. Medium body, good level of carobonation, dry finish.

3fourths (7885) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 15, 2010
draft. hazy light yellow body, fine-bubbled white head. saccharine/soap/floral nose, light candy sugar, light note of moldy/sweaty bandaid. artificially sweet (splenda), potpourri/soap notes become overpowering after 4-5 drinks. on-par with all but one or two of their belgian beer, meaning it borders on undrinkable.

BMan1113VR (7834) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAY 1, 2012
Bottle (marked as bottled on March 23, 2012). Slow gusher (first I’ve seen from Great Divide). Pours with an almost entirely crystal clear (despite being bottle conditioned) yellow hued body with a small white head that fades to a ring disappointingly quickly. Lace is pretty minimal. Aromas are sharp apple, cidery, some raw malt (smells like fresh wort), medium estery, light phenols some spicy hop like character. Quite dry. Flavors are medium tart, lightly earthy and phenolic. A bit of a citrus acidity, quick duration. Medium bitter and some alcohol on the finish. Lightly oily mouthfeel. Lively bubbles, dry and a bit thin.

MartinT (7746) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 12, 2009
My Bottom Line:
Spicy, herbal hops combat starchy undertones while tight effervescence and cushiony cereals build this approachable Saison attempt.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the bright yet hazy yellow.
-The grain bill did not provide as much as I would have hoped.
-Doughy yeast and light citrus reach complexity.
-That vegetal, starch-like quirkiness is the main reason I did not fall in love with brew.

Bottled on April 15th.

DocLock (7731) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 13, 2009
Pours turbid deep gold with 1-finger white head. Nose is citric, limey, hoppy, with pale malt. Tastes citric, very limey, with hops, pale ,alt, slight floral and peppery notes, but no funk or horserblankety aroma. I can only guess that this one needs time to age, but as it was, it was only mediocre for me.

Cloudy yellow color, white head. Funky, sweet scent. Funky sweet taste. Medium mouthfeel, low bitterness.

Dogbrick (7666) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 9, 2012
This brew pours a slightly hazy pale straw color with a medium foamy white head that evaporates slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. The aroma is grainy malt, yeast and slight hops. Light to medium body with a slightly funky character with notes of citrus, yeast, bready malt and spices. The finish is fruity with a mildly bitter citrusy hops aftertaste. Above average Saison overall.

jercraigs (7638) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 23, 2010
2010-08-21. Lightly hazy golden yellow body with a nice foamy white head. 3+ Flavour is mild, lightly yeasty with some estery accents, dry light alcohol presence. 6+ Dry floral notes linger into the aftertaste. Aroma is dry, floral hop character and light alcohol. Smooth average plus palate. Decent, shows potential. I am not sure if a longer more contemplative visit with this would make me like it more, or less. Bottle from Premier Gourmet, Shared by DuctTape
