COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our homage to the beers that have quenched the thirst of Belgian farm workers for centuries. Brewed with barley, wheat and rice and fermented at high temperatures with a special blend of four different yeast strains, Saison is fruity and slightly tart, with a dry finish that makes it that rarest of treats–a beer as refreshing as it is complex. 7.3% ABV.

355mL thanks to Blinkin. A hazy glowing gold pour yields a larger, white, brilliant head. Nice retention. White wisps of lace. Nose is apricot and small vinegar. Taste is musty and oatmeal malty. Odd palate. Mild lemon and cardboard with eggy sulphur and odd tartness. A little blander with lemon and lavender soap. Odd.

On Tap from the Outside Bar at the Great Divide Brewing Company, Denver 17/09/2010 Yeasty malt aroma. White head. Amber coloured hazy in appearance and floral with a hint of bitterness in a dry and yeasty finish.

Dogbrick (9118) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUL 9, 2012
This brew pours a slightly hazy pale straw color with a medium foamy white head that evaporates slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. The aroma is grainy malt, yeast and slight hops. Light to medium body with a slightly funky character with notes of citrus, yeast, bready malt and spices. The finish is fruity with a mildly bitter citrusy hops aftertaste. Above average Saison overall.

Draft sample. Very malty belgian ale that has a flavor reminiscent of cotton candy. How you can call this a saison I don’t know.

Draught @ Stone 17th Anniversary Brewers Reception, San Marcos, CA
Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, yeast, fruits and citrus. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with a long slightly dry and fruity finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. Musty lemon and barley malt aroma. Cloudy pale yellow color with large head. Musty sweet lemon peel and malt flavor. Very well made - an excellent beer.

12 oz. bottle, pours a hazy golden blone with a small white head. Aroma of citrus, banana, orange peel and yeast. Flavour of very sour citrus, banana and yeast - much more sour than a usual saison.

3fourths (8480) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - MAR 15, 2010
draft. hazy light yellow body, fine-bubbled white head. saccharine/soap/floral nose, light candy sugar, light note of moldy/sweaty bandaid. artificially sweet (splenda), potpourri/soap notes become overpowering after 4-5 drinks. on-par with all but one or two of their belgian beer, meaning it borders on undrinkable.

MartinT (8351) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 12, 2009
My Bottom Line:
Spicy, herbal hops combat starchy undertones while tight effervescence and cushiony cereals build this approachable Saison attempt.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam tops the bright yet hazy yellow.
-The grain bill did not provide as much as I would have hoped.
-Doughy yeast and light citrus reach complexity.
-That vegetal, starch-like quirkiness is the main reason I did not fall in love with brew.

Bottled on April 15th.

Pours turbid deep gold with 1-finger white head. Nose is citric, limey, hoppy, with pale malt. Tastes citric, very limey, with hops, pale ,alt, slight floral and peppery notes, but no funk or horserblankety aroma. I can only guess that this one needs time to age, but as it was, it was only mediocre for me.
