3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours clear deep gold with thin white head. The aroma is grainy, spicy yeast, a bit of lemon and a sort of sweet pear – apples combination. The taste is smooth with a dash of fresh grainy malts, spicy yeast and a bit of lemon acidity to round things out. To midway and onto the finish is sweeter notes of pears and apples that surface to add a bit of extra interest along with an estery sensation.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Head is initially average sized, fizzy/frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy light yellow, unfiltered.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cereal), lightly hoppy (herbs, flowers), lightly yeasty (basement), with notes of bubble gum, plastic/paint, soap, and pepper.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, slightly unclean.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Well, shoot. I’m always hopeful and excited when trying a new saison from any brewery, this being my favorite style of all, but I can’t say this one is very enjoyable or saison-like (imagine a strong witbier without the spices, perhaps?). It’s kinda dirty/clunky in the aroma, not in the "good funk" way though. Some passable toasty malt is slightly ruined by a kind of wet Corn/Rice Chex smell. In the mouth, the sweetness is thankfully not that strong, but unfortunately it does tend to linger long into the finish, and there’s just not enough acidity or bitterness to keep it in the spirit of a true saison. Not particularly clean either. As with Hades, a bit of a disappointment.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (22oz). Shared by tupalev with me, blankboy, garthicus and gregclow - did Jeff provide ALL the beer for this tasting?!!! Thanks again, Jeff!. Cloudy gold pour with a swirly, creamy off-white head (3+). Aroma of banana, pear, yeast, dry spice, some alcohol and plenty of grassy bitterness to tie it all together. The taste follows - lots of clover and lemon; tingly: good. Lively mouthfeel, fruity, yeasty, with a sweet fruity/spicy linger. And excellent hoppy (but not over-hopped) take on a saison - we quite liked it.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
In short: A weirdo blond beer with a bunch of “off” flavours that somehow manages to retain a Saison character.
How: Bottle. Consumed fresh a few months after its release. Many sources. This bottle sent to me by Solan. Thanks a lot Alan.
The look: Cloudy blonde body topped by a medium white head
In long: Nose is slightly wild with some bee wax notes. Taste is a bit off, but I did enjoy it because it really has some true Saison character. Elements of the taste include: honeyed cereals, burnt front lawn grass, neutral white bread malts, green apples (but not acetaldehyde), garden flower petals juice, ear wax, a little lemony tartness, corn, dough. Almost sufficiently attenuated with pleasant semi-dryness that for once doesn’t on a spiciness character. Finish has a weird mineral/nickel flavour like sucking on a 5 cents coin. For some reason I cannot put into words I had a hard finishing my bomber, something about the ear wax flavour sticking to my throat. This is not a well crafter beer, I enjoyed it only because I’m a Saison freak and it had a slight Saison character. But I wouldn’t start an argument with a ratebeerian who said this is a bad beer. Unless of course he’s smaller than me and I’m drunk.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Cloudy lemony yellow, medium finely bubbled head. Aroma is very yeasty, eatery, with nice wheat and light spice. Palate is yeasty and lightly sour (maybe more apt to describe it as tart), wheat, light spices, and light phenols. Decent.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle (vintage 2010) into a tulip. Well... pour carefully. Even straight out of the fridge, there’s an enormous fluffy white head that fades quickly to half but sticks around. The beer itself is a nice cloudy yellow. The aroma is creamy, fruity, and spicy - almost like a wit. Definite hints of citrus and Belgian yeast. The flavor is sweet and tart up front but lingers dry with citrus.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle:   Yellowish straw, slightly cloudy, large sudsy white head, spotty lacing, lively carbonation.
Grassy nose, some straw and barnish character.   A little bright, also slightly bready... but ever so
slight.   Has a subtle spice to it, perhaps even a little bit of pepper.   Not bad, some cereal on the
backside.   Wished it was a bit more tart and floral, but alas its an American example.   Body and mouthfeel
are fairly hefty for a Saison.   Finish does pick up some tartness, a little dry too.   Feels a little mealy
tho.   Decent example, not bad, but wished it was more floral and bright.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow & tupalev -- c/o tupalev. Pours a hazy dark yellow with an average size diminishing white head. Aroma is yeasty and spicy along with citrus fruit and grassy notes. Flavour’s also yeasty and spicy along with some hops and lemon. Medium bodied. Well done, this is really enjoyable and a little underrated in my opinion.
