COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our homage to the beers that have quenched the thirst of Belgian farm workers for centuries. Brewed with barley, wheat and rice and fermented at high temperatures with a special blend of four different yeast strains, Saison is fruity and slightly tart, with a dry finish that makes it that rarest of treats–a beer as refreshing as it is complex. 7.3% ABV.

Poured from a 12oz bottle at Euclid Hall into a white wine glass. A: Pours a very pretty creamy golden straw with just a touch of haze. The head is stark white but settles quickly over the beer, fantastic lacing. S: Wilde yeast meets biscuity malts and rounded out by tart tropical fruit and lemon yest. Funk is apparent but balanced by the citrus notes and earthy grassy aromas. T: Tart and mouth watering. Lemon is the dominate fruit but so is the wild Belgian yeast. Funky notes dance with tart tropical citrus and balanced by earthy grass and terroir. Finish is very long, quite pretty, and dry inviting you to taste over and over. M: Light to medium bodied with fantastic carbonation. Coats the palate lightly and evenly from front to back with a clean dry finish. D: This is a fantastic interpretation of a Belgian Farmhouse or Saison style. The Belgian yeast is perfect funk to the malt and the mild hops. Clean and crisp with tart citrus fruits, terroir, and medicinal flavors. Love the dry lingering finish. Perfect beer for a hot summer day or just sitting on the porch.

I really loved this beer. Complex esters, but not too heavy on the banana. Spicy. Not too sweet and not too dry. Great saison!

12 ounce bottle. A: Pours an unfiltered golden with solid white lacing. S: Very malty with various citrus fruits. T: Herbs and spices complement the citrus fruits present in this brew, incredibly complex for a warm weather style. M: On the lighter side with average carbonation. D: Very nice and goes down easy on a hot day.

Dave from Great Divide bought me my round at Kraftworks. Aroma of citrus and belgian yeast. Pours yellow and hazy with a medium fluffy head. Bold taste of light citrus, nutmeg and yeast. Kicks you in the mouth and stays there. Yummmm. Thanks, Dave.

Bottle into tulip. Straw colored with floaties, highly carbonated, an endlessly morphing two finder head. Musky, spicy/floral aromas- I get yeast, cantaloupe, barnyard, violet, caramel, wet wool, metal shavings, sycamore tree… Flavor is much more crisp and fruity than I expected from the nose; sweetish, citric, chamomille and pepper, lychee, five spice. The palate is light, gassy, and sharp as ice shards. Kind of a Sprite and brettanomyces aftertaste. Leaves the tounge tingling. A complex and refreshing beer that is exemplary of the style. Even better than Saison Dupont.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a tulip glass. Information on the bottle includes a short description of the beer, a "Bottled On" date and the abv% (7.3). Appearance: From the pour it produces a big billowy head of white foam over a hazy golden honey colored body. The haze comes from a fine yeast sediment in the body of the beer. Some of the yeast seems to be pushed up towards the head by the aggressive carbonation. This beer looks to be full of life. Smell: The aroma is of floral and spicy almost grassy hops with a pale base of biscuity malt. Taste/Palate: There is a nice balance of spicy yeast with hints of fruit and biscuity maltiness. This has light sweetness that dries out for a snappy dry finish. The carbonation is lively and the palate is crisp. Notes: Great Divide Is right on with very tasty farmhouse ale!!!

Fairly hazy, golden yellow, poured into a Duvel tulip, rocky white head, crazy lacing, very cavernous head... Mild funk, saison yeast, light fruits, bright aroma, inviting... Slightly fruity, sliightly yeasty, a little peppery... Medium body with an airy quality, lively, gets a little yeasty as it warms... I really liked this...

12 oz bottle into tulip. Aroma is of grain--you know, it kind of smells like a farm, minus the cowshit. That’s a compliment. Simple, crisp, and refreshing. Pours a hazy light gold with minimal head or lacework. Keeps a collar of foam throughout. Taste is spicy, thirst-quenching, delicious. I’ve been on an Imperial Stout kick since September or so of last year, but these kinds of beers are becoming increasingly attractive to me. I don’t know if it’s just the longing for summer, or just the wanting of less heavy beers, but this tastes absolutely fantastic at the moment. It does taste very similar to a Belgian wit, like some other users have said. An extremely tasty wit if I must say so. Carbonation is high, agreeable. Kind of slick. I can imagine myself gulping this down by the case during the summer--if I could afford it.

THOUGHTS: A very nice saison. Not as funky as some, but it was very refreshing and easy to drink for the ABV. Hid alcohol well. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a lightly cloudy, medium golden with very nice carbonation and a large, nearly white head that mostly diminished but left excellent lacing. The aroma was light to moderate hay and straw; moderate to heavy doughy, earthy and cobwebby yeast; citrus and other fruit, and wheat. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and acidic; while the finish was sweet, acidic and lightly sour with an average duration. There was wheat, white bread, lots of yeast, fruit, citrus, dough and sour lemon. The light to medium body was fairly dry with rather fizzy carbonation and a dry and lightly astringent finish.
