Our homage to the beers that have quenched the thirst of Belgian farm workers for centuries. Brewed with barley, wheat and rice and fermented at high temperatures with a special blend of four different yeast strains, Saison is fruity and slightly tart, with a dry finish that makes it that rarest of treats–a beer as refreshing as it is complex. 7.3% ABV.

Dave from Great Divide bought me my round at Kraftworks. Aroma of citrus and belgian yeast. Pours yellow and hazy with a medium fluffy head. Bold taste of light citrus, nutmeg and yeast. Kicks you in the mouth and stays there. Yummmm. Thanks, Dave.

Bottle into tulip. Straw colored with floaties, highly carbonated, an endlessly morphing two finder head. Musky, spicy/floral aromas- I get yeast, cantaloupe, barnyard, violet, caramel, wet wool, metal shavings, sycamore tree… Flavor is much more crisp and fruity than I expected from the nose; sweetish, citric, chamomille and pepper, lychee, five spice. The palate is light, gassy, and sharp as ice shards. Kind of a Sprite and brettanomyces aftertaste. Leaves the tounge tingling. A complex and refreshing beer that is exemplary of the style. Even better than Saison Dupont.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2013 This one is great! You’re in for a treat. Aroma is of citrus, a little funk, and dough (yeast notes). Pours a pale golden that’s clear with a white head. A slight sour tartness with lots of fruity, yeast attributes and a tiny bit of indistinguishable funk. Finishes dry and sweet. Nice!

Crisp, fruity ale. The fruit doesn't overpower. A welcome taste. A gold standard for saison beers. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is yeast, white pepper, apple, white peach, white tea. Flavor is apple, white tea, white pepper, yeasty protein, save blanc, cereal. Yeah, I said white a lot. Medium to light body, good carbonation. Very clear appearance, like pale apple juice. The best 6 pack saison I have ever had.

Refreshing malts and varying yeasts. Fresh citrus flavors and very mild betterness.

From the pour it produces a big billowy head of white foam over a hazy golden honey colored body. The haze comes from a fine yeast sediment in the body of the beer. Some of the yeast seems to be pushed up towards the head by the aggressive carbonation. This beer looks to be full of life. The aroma is of floral and spicy almost grassy hops with a pale base of biscuity malt. There is a nice balance of spicy yeast with hints of fruit and biscuity maltiness. This has light sweetness that dries out for a snappy dry finish. The carbonation is lively and the palate is crisp.

Fairly hazy, golden yellow, poured into a Duvel tulip, rocky white head, crazy lacing, very cavernous head... Mild funk, saison yeast, light fruits, bright aroma, inviting... Slightly fruity, sliightly yeasty, a little peppery... Medium body with an airy quality, lively, gets a little yeasty as it warms... I really liked this...

I love it. Just the right amount of funk. I let it settle, so it poured only slightly cloudy straw yellow, could have a lot more sediment if you like. Strong lemon and yeasty bread dough aroma. Sweet and tart with lots of fruit- lemon, apricot, tart apple - and a little spice. Lots of yeast character, sour funk, tartness, and that spiciness. Fairly quick dry finish. I’d put it in the biere de garde category rather than saison.
