DPA has risen to become one of the most award-winning English-style pale ales in the world. Sporting a brilliant copper hue and an assertive floral hop aroma, DPA is known for its smooth, malty middle, which is expertly complemented with hearty and complex hop flavor. Light copper beer with a a lasting white head. Hops dominate the aroma, with citrus and floral and fruity notes, with a bit of bisquit and other malt notes. Semi-sweet flavour with pretty high bitterness, and a lasting hoppy aftertaste. I’d say it falls somewhere between the British and American pale ale in style.

Bottle, bought @ Ølkonsortiet, Aalborg. Pours a deep golden with a big creamy-ish white head. Aroma is mildly sweet hoppy. Some caramel and slight fruity hops. Lively mouthfeel. Flavour has a nice hoppyness, slight pale-ish malty sweetness behind it. Not that terribly dry. A very competent brew, but a little underwhelming.

Bottle poured a clear golden amber with a large lasting off white head. Aromas of bread, light carmel and a hint of earthiness. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of bread, light carmel and a hint of grapefruit rind with a lingering lightly bitter finish.

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2009 Rating is average of 2 tastings - bottle and keg
355ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki , American Week 2007).
Typical unsophisticated US style overrelyance on hops to carry a beer. Unbalanced, lacking a full malty body, and instead being sticky and sweet. (4-3-5-3-12=2.7)
Keg (Pikkulintu, Helsinki, American Weeks 2009)
Pleasant, gingery, hoppy. OK quaff. Sherbet finish, sweet palate. Nice. (6-4-7-3-13=3.3)
