DPA has risen to become one of the most award-winning English-style pale ales in the world. Sporting a brilliant copper hue and an assertive floral hop aroma, DPA is known for its smooth, malty middle, which is expertly complemented with hearty and complex hop flavor. DPA's extraordinary hop finish is marked by crisp yet moderate hop bitterness.

6-pack from state line liquors - a very drinkable pale ale with a pretty strong malt backbone and a muted floral hop presence typical of English PAs. I much prefer the Fresh Hop Pale Ale offering by Great Divide, which is one of the few Fresh Hop offerings of a Pale Ale. This is a bit too bread-y malt-y for my taste. Still, a very drinkable offering.

Pours a light copper with slightly off white head. Nose is malty and lightly sweet. Flavor follows the nose, with an added mild hoppiness that is noticeable and welcome.

Bottle pours clear light copper in color. Nice thick off white head with tight bubbles. No lacing on glass. Fruity flowery smell with subtle malt like aroma. Sweet on the tongue finishing with a mellow bitterness. Medium body minimal hop flavor. Nice balanced beer, smooth very drinkable session ale. SIDE NOTE: this bottle had a date of 6/18/2012. 11 months since bottled. I did not notice this till it was halfway finished. Beer had that not so fresh taste and it lacked the full hop flavor. It still was decent. Im sure if this were fresh i would have rated it higher. If i ever get a hold of another i will re rate it.

Bottle. Nice straight forward English pale. Pours amber with a slight white head and loose lacing. Sweet, malty, grassy aroma and taste with a bitter back. Fairly basic but very drinkable. Nice crisp finish.

This is my new favorite Pale Ale. I just ordered a big pile of it for my store because I love it so much. I think this is an incredibly well balanced beer that can be enjoyed by a wide spectrum of people. It has a fuller mouth feel than the average pale, and when my glass was empty I was certainly ready for another bottle.

Tap sample. Clear amber color with a small head. Malty aroma, grains, faint spicy hops and some apples. Baked pears flavor, cookies, lo-med bitterness. Medium bodied, nice bitter finish. OK.

Really well crafted beer, but with very malty overtones true to the English model. I enjoyed it, but the malt flavor didn't hit my sweet spot. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: APR 15, 2013 Bottle. Pours a golden copper color with minimal head. Aroma is mild with faint hops. Flavor is bitter and mild with a nice toasty finish. The mouthfeel is thick and soapy. Not bad. But I could use a little more aroma hops.

Bottle. Disclaimer: bottle is out of date. Pours golden with no head. Nose is weak. Taste has solid malt backbone but unfortunately the hops are dead due to the age. Decent palate with good carb. Will re-rate a fresh bottle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pour in American pint glass. Medium white fluffy head and modest lace. A beautiful amber color with slight haze. Aroma is light with malts, grass, earth and bread. Taste is slightly bitter with earthy tones, light floral hops, and a malty finish. Rather heavy carbonation.
