Flavor is aggressive and is an explosion of dark roasted coffee bean. A bit of chocolate, caramel, and oak are also threre. Thick but not as creamy as the BA Yeti...but who am I to complain!!! Still a great brew!!! Sparky27 (1642), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Bomber. Pours pitch black with a thick 3 finger mocha colored head that lasts and coats the glass like latex paint. The nose is chocolate, roasted malt and coffee. The taste is a huge coffee blast up front with burnt malt, ashy cocoa, vanilla and some bitter hops in the finish. Full creamy mouthfeel. As a rich dark roast lover, this is very good! | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Blackish color with a big coffee aroma that packs lots of roast, espresso, lighter oak, and dark chocolate and really fills the nasal passages. Flavor is roasty & creamy with lots of coffee, some sweetness, chocolate, and a decent bit of oak. Nice, but its not quite at the top of its class (certainly no BGB Weasel) ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 10, 2009 Bottle. Glad I found some of this the other day in Charlotte. I’d been looking for it for a while now. Pours out a black color with a brown head on it - no shock there. Smell is coffee, roasted malts, espresso, some chocolate, no hops, no alcohol, great smelling beer - reminds me of founders Breakfast Stout. Taste is smooth and bitter, not the hop bitter, but coffee bitter. Roasted smell, thick, and good. Reminds me alot of founders with an added bourbon flavor yet not enough bourbon to be considered the KBS. This beer is good, but it is my new philosophy that not all beers develop over time. Drink this fresh, now, it is as good as it will get. More time and it could turn into a bourbon bomb. greenhorn1 (462), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Apr 9, 2009 22 oz bomber. Pours midnight black with a big frothy brown head, and a lot of lacing. Aroma is as the label suggests, espresso, also hints of chocolate. Flavor is similiar, bitter chocolate, light notes of vanilla, strong oak, and of course coffee. Creamy mouthfeel and I definitely could feel the aloohol warmth. The only suggestion is that this beer needs to age for a while, it is still a bit rough around the edges. jlruthven (137), Milledgeville, Georgia, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 9, 2009 22 oz bomber, poured into a tulip glass, just slightly chilled. Pours up a viscous, oily midnight black with dark brown head that lasted forever. Nose is nearly all espresso, with some bitter cacao. Tastes enormously of coffee and the darkest coco, with hints of vanilla, oak, pipe tobacco and leather. Mouthfeel was a bit thin, but this is an otherwise extraordinary brew.
