| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | Mar 19, 2009 could this long-awaited brew rival the best of the coffee beers. the answer is both yes and no. pours black and creamy with a medium tan head that hangs around like that annoying co-worker who just doesn’t get it. Nose is dark chocolate and only brief coffee. although the taste? forget about it. you think you liked yeti, then you’re gonna love this. the espresso milds out the oak aged yeti and leaves a nice coffee taste with a bit of smoke. this tasty beverage reminds me of classic coffee stouts, like tyranena’s devil made me do it and barley island’s black magic java stout. thank you great divide, i love you. mreusch (748), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 19, 2009 22oz. bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a large brown head that lingers, leaving a good coating of lace. Aroma is espresso, chocolate, light oak and vanilla, and some general roasted malts. Flavor brings it on nicely, with a great espresso blend, milk chocolate, more light oak and vanilla, and a nice espresso and hops bitterness on the finish. Another solid one from GD in the Yeti lineup. djtimeless (182), Florida, USA

| 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Mar 18, 2009 22oz bomber. Pours a deep, very dark brown/black with dark garnet brown highlights (at the edges of the glass, only when held up to the light). It pours with a thick but short-lived, dark, orangey-brown head that fades to almost soapy bubbles that leaves small worms of lace on the glass. The beer has a thick, dark roasted malt aroma with an intense fruitiness, coffee roastiness, subtle vanilla, strong tobacco, rich earthiness, and some alcohol. Flavor starts very roasty with amazingly rich espresso , earthy hop flavor, and a pleasant cherry-chocolate-coffee sweetness. At mid-tongue, the flavor combines a rich cakey malt sweetness with chocolate-covered espresso beans and more earthy hop flavor. The finish is dry, roasty, and bittersweet with growing sweetness and warming alcohol. There is a very subtle peppery, smokey note in the finish that accentuates the dryness in a pleasant and complex way. The mouthfeel is elegant and silky with a creamy, full, voluptuous body and soft but sufficiently lively bubbles. Overall: orgasm in a cup. No wait - that doesn’t look right :) Perhaps a less gross expression (i.e. without bizarre innuendo) would be: stupid good. A stupid good imperial stout. Codythegreat (146), Carrollton, Georgia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 18, 2009 Pours a dark, 10W-30, black color with a brown head. When first drinking it it was like a hammer to the face. Very strong and very bitter. And of course very good. I was unable to taste the espresso but I was a little fargone at that point (St Patrick’s Day). I drank this out of a shaker. beerchugger (309), Colorado, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2009 Pours a tremendous opaque black with a full and thick brown head that laces the glass well. Smells of roasted malts and coffee. The flavor is rather mild. Tastes of roasted coffee with some chocolate hinting in the back ground. It finishes with some bitter earthy notes. It’s full bodied and a little oily. It’s rather smooth and creamy and the finish doesn’t last too long. I was a bit disappointed in that the flavor was not as intense as I was hoping. The earthy notes seemed to detract more than add to this beer. I’m glad to have tried it, but there other stouts out there that I like better and so I will probably not be getting this one again. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 17, 2009 Updated: Apr 4, 2009Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a large reddish brown head. Aroma is of burnt coffee and chocolate with a hint of molasses. Flavor is somewhat like the aroma. Starts out great with a chocolaty coffee punch. Unfortunately ends with a slightly metallic oakey bitter finish. Impressive overall. Maybe with a bit of aging, it will impress me more.
