Draught @ STBOWF. Stockholm Beer Festival 2008, Sweden.
Clear medium to dark black color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dark chocolate, coffee notes, vanilla, wood notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Very nice and easy to drink, love this ;0) Body is medium to full, texture is oily and smooth, carbonation is soft - flat. [260908]

Draft. A pitch black beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt as well as some coffee; espresso roast. The flavor is has strong notes of dark milk chocolate, vanilla, and espresso coffee, leading to a very bitter finish, where the coffee lingers.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of ¾/mj - whatever. Pours a very dark brown - close to black - with a reddish hue and a lovely light brown head with a not too good retention. Hard roasted malt and coffee in the nose - quite intense. Solid body, very dry hard roasted malt, mouthdryingly dry. Coffee and ashes. Very malt bitter finish. 270310

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2009 From tap at Ørsted Ølbar and Ølbaren. Pours pitch black with a slowly collapsing tan head. Dense coffee herbal and roasted malt with a distinct wooden and somewhat hoppy note. Sweet chocolate and nice coffee flavoured, distinct liqourice note too. Lasting roasted coffe and mild acidic flavoured with a distinct hoppy side. Smooth coffee and hoppy finish. The oak really mellows this one out. Nice one.

Draught@The Rake. Quite close to pitch black colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is big time espresso, some toffee, roasted malts, liquorice and mild vanillaish notes. Also some mild alcohol and mild fruityness. Flavour is being rather similar in a brutally nice balance.

Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival. Very black, creamy brownish head. Pungent aroma of coffee and vanilla. Sweet and full bodied with dense rounded mouthfeel. Massive, yet not overly assaulting. Warming and tarry with vanilla and licorice to got with the coffee. Long salty bitterness. Like having everything at once. Surprisingly to me it works very well.

Black to the bone, with a generous head, creamy and dark brown. Wonderful aroma: roasted malts, strong coffee, biscuits, light phenol, light dust. Bold body, the mouthfeel is smooth; very strong flavor of roasted malt and dark chocolate, with a late black coffee; there is some residual sweetness, but it’s completely overwhelmed by the roastiness; the final is too roasty for me; the alcohol is well hidden. Excellent.

Black with a medium deep beige head. Sweet aroma with plenty of bitter espresso, dark chocolate and burned malt. Flavour had burned malt, dark chocolate, espresso, vanilla and bourbon. Plenty of hops gave it a prenounced bitterness.
