COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewing with fresh hops is a big endeavor, requiring four to five times the hop volume compared to using pelletized hops. Although the process is complex, it brings impressive results: Fresh Hop is an American-style pale ale with moderate hop bitterness marked by a unique and intensely grassy hop flavor and aroma. Fresh Hop is a superbly refreshing, medium bodied, light-copper colored pale ale weighing in at 55 IBUs and 6.1% ABV.

22oz bottle into Tulip. Minneapolis. Appearance: Copper in color. Very slight haze, but mostly transparent. Very little head. Aroma: Hops - I get mostly floral and piney. Light malty backbone. Taste: Mildy bitter. A touch of sweetness. Palate: Medium/thin body. Slick texture. Moderately long finish. Overall: A pleasant beer, but a bit of a disappointment. It is a pale ale I suppose, but I was hoping the hops would be a little less delicate. Still, the flavor is nice and the hop profile is well done.

On draft. Classic, dank wettish hop aroma. Big lacing. Flavor is... sour? Kind of, yes. More sour hops than anything else. Finishes with some tangerine and a hint of caramel. Superb.

This is the 2014 version, not the 2013 version being sold in 2014... Pours a lite copper, with white head. Aroma is dank hops, just hint of sweetness. Taste is lite, hoppy, not too bitter, finishes dry. Nice pale ale.

Poured from a bottle. This is a tasty beer! Short lived head, but good lacing and a fruity aroma and taste that went down quite smooth.

Bottle: Pours copper-amber with a short, off-white head. Pine, grapefruit aroma. Taste is caramel malt, orange/grapefruit-peel. Resiny. Floral, piney, leafy bitter....dank hops... Wonderful, even bittering throughout.....without going over the top. Nicely done.

Aroma of grapefruit and pine resin, clear caramel color virtually no head. Dry feel with a great taste of hops, citrus and pine resin with a slightly sweet malt undertone. Bitter sweet hop finish.

Tasted at taproom. Balanced floral, citrus, and pine aroma. Soft mouthfeel with bright bitterness turning into a pleasant citrusy after taste. Not dry on the finish. Nice fresh hop beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours a clear, copper color with a thick, white head. Strong, citrus aroma with a nice, wet hoppy finish. Grassy notes with a thick, fresh hop presence. Dry finish. Pretty darn good balance. Really, really good.

"i was hoping for great, and got very good. no complaints, my expectations for GD have become so high itís hard to measure up. this has a nice zesty, spicy, grassy and citrus hop bitterness which is very nice in the flavor and nose. a little light bodied, but fitting for the style. not a ton of malt presence. slightly darker than usual for the style. nice beer. one of the better pales iíve had."

Served on-tap at Alís of Hampden into a standard pint.

A - Pours a pale copper with no head whatsoever leaving no lacing at all. It appeared to be served far too cold.

S - Hints of piney hops and faint citrus fruits but both were fairly muted. Lots of sweetness from the roasted caramel malts.

T - Similar to the nose. Muted flavors of citrus fruits and piney hops. Strong roasted caramel malts that overpower nearly all other flavors. Is this one a little past its prime? Looks like it. It is a borderline malt bomb at this point in time.

M - Light body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Slight hop bitterness on the finish with more and more malt coming thru as it warms.

D - One of these was enough for me. It seemed to be a little bit old. I think I might revisit this one down the line when I know I can guarantee the freshness.
