Brewing with fresh hops is a big endeavor, requiring four to five times the hop volume compared to using pelletized hops. Although the process is complex, it brings impressive results: Fresh Hop is an American-style pale ale with moderate hop bitterness marked by a unique and intensely grassy hop flavor and aroma. Fresh Hop is a superbly refreshing, medium bodied, light-copper colored pale ale weighing in at 55 IBUs and 6.1% ABV.

UPDATED: NOV 11, 2010 One of the best beers I have tasted in approximately 38 years of drinking beer. (Ok the first 10 years - ages 15-25 were pretty much wasted on crappy beer - I didn’t know better) . This beer, a 1. 5 pint bomber bottled on Sept 29, 2009, was so incredibly delicious that I immediately purchased 2 cases from my local distributor (Pennsylvania has great beer but extremely antiquated beer laws - case only). Imagine the best, most fresh tasting , most hoppy full bodied pale ale you have ever had in your life, and this beer is it. Nirvana, the beer.

22oz Pours straw yellow, slight haze...med head with short linger. Grassy but not too sweet...sharp mouthfeel. Oh yeah, the hops are there. Enjoyable beer here. $5.50/22oz at Whole Foods, Boca Raton

Pours a slightly hazy sediment laden gold with a tall frothy white head. Nice sweetly piney hop aroma. Intensely sweet orange/fruity flavor equally matched by the sizable bitter hop finish. The IPA of Pale Ales for sure. The finish has a nice lingering quality that really emphasizes the next sip.

Pours copper with light thinish head. Nose is flowery with a slight piney freshness. The hops in this beer remind me more of the fresh hop leaf rather than hop pellets. Body is medium with gentle finish. Not sure what I expected with this beer. Definitely not like an IPA. More of a clean earthy beer.

Pine and citrus aroma. Small head, with beautiful lacing. Flavor is nice refreshing hoppiness, perfect with spicy molé. Pretty tasty APA (or IPA?), another good one from great divide . . .

Pours a crystal clear burned orange with a big soapy white head that laces as it dies. Smells of a minor blast of fresh hops(ha) and almost a little sweet malt. Taste is big juicy hops, grapefruit rind, bittering finish but all of this is doesnt linger. A miniscule amount of malt but nothing that can balance the hops. Crisp in the mouth with good carbonation. Very drinkable. An awesome pale ale from GD.

Bottle poured a clear copper color with nice white head. Aroma is pine and hops. Tase is pine, grapefruit, hops, and finished with a nice bitter end. Smooth and easy to drink, a nice brew by Great Divide.

Nice, fairly clear deep copper caramel-like color, topped with a dense, foamy, lasting off-white head. Nose is just heaven, intense floral, grassy, citrusy hop aroma. Enough malty backbone to balance. Smooth and ever so slightly chewy mouthfeel with soft, moderate carbonation. Wonderful hop flavor – citrusy grapefruit. Nice bitter finish. Nicely done pale ale, wish I could drink this year round.

Bottle. Golden amber. Medium head. Fresh hoppy aroma with some grass and a hint of wild strawberries. Unexpected malts in the flavour, very dry and bitter hop finish. Very good, but I was expecting a more hoppy IPA.
