Brewing with fresh hops is a big endeavor, requiring four to five times the hop volume compared to using pelletized hops. Although the process is complex, it brings impressive results: Fresh Hop is an American-style pale ale with moderate hop bitterness marked by a unique and intensely grassy hop flavor and aroma. Fresh Hop is a superbly refreshing, medium bodied, light-copper colored pale ale weighing in at 55 IBUs and 6.1% ABV.

22oz. bomber at Table Rock. Bought last two bottles in store on sale, so they were a little old I’ll re-rate this fall. Slightly hazy amber copper color with thin off white head that left good lacing. Freshly opened bag of hops aroma. Light flavor of green and citrus hop with light balancing malt inthe background. Light body, soft carb., and dry texture and feel. A really good beer with rough edges that would probably be better in season.

Golden orange, off white head. Honeyish, grassy, piney aroma. Grassy, piney taste. Nice malt backing. more of an IPA. Nice mouthfeel. Old rating, just added.

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2008 Dark amber pour with a nice beige...somewhat creamy head. Dry with a nice body. Very grassy/hoppy with a kind of sweet grapefruit taste. I love it! Another quality brew from Great Divide!

I should have rated last year’s version as I enjoyed that a bit more, but all in all, a good IPA. Hoppy - more on the sweet side this year, it seemed to have less of that IPA crispness. I would say piney hop flavor this year. Again, a nice IPA. I look forward to next year’s edition.

Pours a deep copper color with white head. Aroma is a little bit grassy and hops and a little malt. Taste is a little bit hoppy but really just kind of the standard pale ale. I expected more. It's good but nothing spectacular. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz. bottle into lager glass. Pours a clear, dark copper with a light white head that laces nicley. Aroma is heavy on grpaefruit and lemon with a noticable hoppyness. Flavor is of fresh hops, grass and grapefruit with a slight pine finish. Mouthfeel is very smooth and goes down easy. Great APA.

Pours not-so-hazy, not-so-clear.. Dark amber with frothy head. Smells of NW hops, yes, but I was expecting more in-your-face scents, considering the price I paid... Tastes very crisp and, well, fresh. Like a newly mowed lawn meets a grapefruit. The mouth-feel is what this beer is all about though. Not too watery, not too thick MAXIMUM palate points.

Interesting beer-- I agree with the label and "Fresh Hop Pale Ale" rather than anyone who tries to call this an IPA. But it’s one of the hoppier pale ale’s you’ll taste. Aroma is a litle dank and subtle, with some of that pilsnery barley must that tells you not to expect too much hop. The coppery color and minimal head complicate that message a bit. The taste has a nice sharp edge to it, but it just gets your attention and then subsides very slowly into softer grassier flavors-- eventually it’s actually a very dry, clean finish. The resiny undertones are really nice and complex, but this beer is about balance and a long, developing and fading flavor, rather than an IPA tastebud burner. Palate is on the thick and mealy side for a pale ale, as to be expected. Feels like a resin has been infused gently throughout. Very drinkable, and relatively low abv considering the hop flavors. Ah, the glory of wet hoppitudenicity.

Medium copper color, egg-white head, good lacing. Nice full aroma. Really nice, crisp mouthfeel. Great hop flavor, citrus (grapefruit, and a bit of orange), pine, resin, very balanced. Great Divide rarely disappoints - very nice pale ale.

On tap at Middleton's. Refreshing pale ale with plenty of hops to give the beer the perfect balance of crispness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
