Commercial Description:
Brewing with fresh hops is a big endeavor, requiring four to five times the hop volume compared to using pelletized hops. Although the process is complex, it brings impressive results: Fresh Hop is an American-style pale ale with moderate hop bitterness marked by a unique and intensely grassy hop flavor and aroma. Fresh Hop is a superbly refreshing, medium bodied, light-copper colored pale ale weighing in at 55 IBUs and 6.1% ABV.

650ml bottle, shared with VeloVampire - wow, really nice hop aroma just upon popping the cap on the bottle. Poured a golden amber with a really foamy white head. Nice! The aroma is lots of hops, sweet and piney and rich. I could’ve probably just sat smelling this one. I knew right there this was going to be a fantastic beer. The taste surprised me - right off the top I of course were fresh hops, followed by some caramel/milk chocolate (!! perhaps they used chocolate malt?) and more sweet, citrusy, piney, resiny, grapefruity hoppiness that goes down so smoothly. There is a huge hop flavour to this beer, but without the bitterness of an American IPA. Like it’s name implies, this is a really fresh tasting and refreshing beer. Beautiful stuff!

On tap at Old Chicago as "liberally hopped ale" this beer looked like the rice beer Samurai and tasted like it but with more hops. Crisp, drinkable and with heavy carbonation but I was not too impressed.

Easy to drink, fresh, hoppy and fun. Rather light in general but it adds to the drinkability wich is a nice combination with the hoppiness in this beer.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a white head. Grassy and floral aroma with a nice caramel malt balance. The flavor is floral, grassy, and herbal, and again very well balanced. Not bad.

2007 Bottle. Pours with a largish, slightly yellow, rocky white head that leaves lots of lacing. Ever so slightly hazed amber body. Tangy orange-citrus hops on the nose with a touch of cannabis. Taste is m alty with some light, but dank, chewy hops rounding out the finish (but bitterness is very moderate). Full, slightly syrupy mouthfeel.
