COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Grand Cru is our very special Belgian-style dark ale. Imported malts give it a round malty richness, and the fruity complexity and slightly spicy character come from brewing with a proprietary Belgian yeast strain. Don’t let the name fool you; while it may be a special occasion beer, this medium-bodied, elegant incarnation is anything but snobbish. Suggested food pairings: Roasted chicken with thyme, braised short ribs, oven roasted vegetables, grilled sweet potatoes, roaring 40′s blue cheese, bread pudding.

Bomber - pours a nice and clear ruby with creamy lacing. Smelled of floral hops, cherries, raisins and molasses with a hint of musk that suggested... tomato. The taste was rich and fruity, like rum soaked cherries with plenty of yeast in the mix. Perhaps too rich though, as the alcohol was clearly masked by incredible sugary (almost syrupy) tones. All in all not bad.

Thanks to Chipalsa for sharing this. Bomber into snifter. Nose is mainly some cherry with dark fruits and some molasses. There is a funky tomato-like vinous character in the nose as well. Hmmm.... The body was a nice dark brown with an off-white head. I got a lot of rich cherry and rum-like qualities in the flavor of this brew, with some toffee and raisin notes. The sweetness was almost overpowering up front. The alcohol was well hidden to me though, despite the big ABV. Not a bad brew at all.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Sweet and fruity smell. Similar taste with sugar and a sweetness that sticks to your mouth. A very easy to drink beer but maybe a bit to mild for my taste.

Aroma of raisins and malt and alcohol. Smells delicious. Pours a medium brown with a light frothy head. Tastes as delicious as it smells.

22 ounce bottle, bottled on January 12, 2011. Served in a DFH Signature Glass, the beer pours a reddish/mahogany brown color with an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. Aroma is fruity and sweet, it smells like dark fruit (raisins, plums), caramel, cola, brown sugar, and some sweet spices. Taste is similar to the aroma, it tastes like dark fruit (cherries, raisins, red grapes), brown sugar, peppery spice, molasses, and some cinnamon. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s syrupy and sticky with moderate carbonation. I think it’s a good overall brew, I enjoyed drinking it.

A beautiful reddish brown beer with a big and beige head. Aroma is fruitfull and yeasty, plums, some red berries and strawberries. Taste is dark fruity, yeast, interesting sourness, no alcohol, but it can be feeled, drying herbs in the aftertaste. Smooth, full bodied, but not sticky, again velvety softly beer from Great Divide. Interesting, sour nuance gives unigue touch to otherwise fruitfull and yeasty belgian clone.

Pours mahogany brown with a off white head. The aroma is a heavy mix of sweet dark fruits, caramel, brown sugar, burnt sugar, alcohol, nuts, awesome. The flavour follow suit, big on the dark fruits, dates, brown sugar, alcohol, a light light bit of hops maybe. Chewy palate. Warm mouth feel. Great stuff

Bottle. Poured a ruddy, midnight red with just a whisper of foam. The sweet aroma of sugar and dates carries at least a foot to my olfactory glands. The beer drinks with an utterly full plate of rich, dark fruit -- dates, overripe red grape, pineapple, even a little green apple. That all riding a wave of bunson-burner alcohol warmth. Nice winter warmer. (#4441, 1/9/2012)

65cl, new American brew Anno 2011, from De Bierkoning Amsterdam, complex brew, spicy/vinous and slightly sweet/woody, not too heavy, balanced, hazy, good head, good brew, yet expensive!

One year old. Probably best aged. It’s still sweet. but just shy of overly so. I get a Belagian yeasty chocolate flavor in there. Good, but not great; should be lower abv.
